Should I take Honors World Lit?

Hello all, I will apologize for a question this subjective in advanced. I am just extremely confused on what I should do and I’ve decided to turn to you all for advice.

I am not the average CC student who takes every single AP and has an extremely high GPA. We don’t rank GPA at my school so I can’t give you any real idea where I stand. I’m at about a 3.7.

If I had parents I could turn to with this decision I would, but alas I am the product of two alcoholics, so this may be a better option.

I am in Honors American Lit right now and it is an absolutely miserable class. I’d say out of all 4 of my Honors, it stresses me out the most, but I still have an A in it.

Despite my A, I still feel like I am an idiot in the class. When we discuss the literature my teacher is so amazed with the points my peers bring up, she sees the literature from a brand new set of eyes. She has stated numerous times that this usually does not happen to her. No matter how hard I try, I just cannot wrap my head around how they can see all these creative points. What earns me my A is my memory. I can remember every detail of some of these discussions.

If it were up to me I wouldn’t do it, but my schedule for next year seems light. I am taking my first two AP’s, my counselor wouldn’t let me in any 9th or 10th grade because she didn’t think I had my interests developed and 2 honors. My schedule looks like this AP World History, AP Biology, Honors Physics, Spanish 4 (This counts as Honors in my school), Precalc, Genocide and Astronomy.

I’m not considering an Ivy League, the highest rated school I am looking at is University of Michigan. I am also considering Oakland University, Wayne State, Central Michigan, EMU, etc. I want to major in Biology, it has been my passion since 7th grade.

Parent here: I was like you in HS…could do well in English due to effort or memorizing or figuring out what they wanted, but did not have the insights as I have more of a STEM brain.

So for a junior, you are taking:

AP World Hs
AP Bio
Honor Physics
SPan 4
Pre Calc
Genocide
Astronomy

I am pretty sure you have to taken an English class as all colleges require 4 years of english and usually HS require it.
Drop Genocide or Astronomy and replace with Honors English. Do you have an Anatomy and Physiology Class or any other medically related classes? That goes well with AP Bio.

You want to take at least honors english even if you don’t do AP English as otherwise you will go crazy with the level of the students.

Also english is important…even though I am an ENgineer, I have to be able to write documents.

What are you planning to take for science next year? AP Chem?

Feel free to PM if you have more questions.

You’re already doubling up in science, don’t take astronomy on top of AP Bio and Physics!
You have to take 4 years of English. Take Honors English, or perhaps actually you could keep Genocide and switchout AP World and replace it with AP Language: it’s not about literary interpretation, it’s about writing. You’ll read all kinds of texts (many non fiction) and you’ll write a lot.
So, this is the schedule I’d recommend:
AP Language
AP Bio
HOnors Physics
Precalc
Spanish 4
Genocide
another semester-long social science
