Should I take Women Studies course as social studies credit?

I am currently junior in high school and I was looking for some social studies credit because It is required in order to get academic honor diploma. And I am not sure what Women Studies is even about and I was just wondering should I take this? I don’t know, do I get anything out of this course?

Note: if you were curious, I’m male.

Thanks.

Take it, you’ll learn a lot!

Women’s studies isn’t for girls only, it deals with the place of women in society and history (in part because the traditional curriculum doesn’t have much about this).
Depending on the colleges you’re aiming for, you’ll need 4 units of social science, and that would certainly be a suitable social science elective if you’ve taken US History and another sort of History (world or euro) and/or government.

If you think you’ll find it interesting, then take it. (My advice for all classes . . . and the reverse is true too, if you don’t find it interesting, then skip it. Seems really obvious, but . . . .not everyone finds it so.)

Women’s studies, as others have said, will give you a new POV about all sorts of things. Multiple POVs are really good to have. With multiple POVs you will be able to solve problems that you encounter with more creativity.

You don’t have a plethora of academic class choices? Is this the easy out option?

If you are not sure whether women’s studies counts as a social studies credit, ask a guidance counselor or the teacher at your school.

Thank you all for giving me advice! I decided to take Women’s Studies. I am not sure If I will have enough time to complete all the honor diploma requirements due to interest in taking some college classes. Thanks.

@Aron9001 Enjoy Women’s Studies!

Have a good day!
