My daughter is applying to prep school and our education consultant thinks that my son’s rival school is perfect for my daughter. Any parents have kids in rival schools? Any comments and thoughts on that? It sounds kind of fun!
Its more common than you think. A few years ago there were triplets at Peddie, Blair and Lawrenceville.
No family experience at the prep school level, but I recall that DS had friends and teammates who had sibs at other schools (although not our biggest rival.) At a soccer game, I offered to show a family from the visiting team where the restrooms were when their D showed up and said “I can take them. I’m a student here!”
My sister and DS attended rival colleges and at Christmas, they still exchange gifts on that theme. It’s quite amusing.
If you have the opportunity to send both of your children to prep schools that are great fits for each one individually, then do it. If the schools are rivals, encourage them to have some fun with it.
We have two kids in different boarding schools. While the specific schools are not rivals with each other (and are really VERY different), they do have specific teams/sports that they are very competitive with and that has been fun for sure! As other commenter has suggested, have fun with it if they do end up at rival schools!
