I wanted to ask the more experienced members of this group if I am still a competitive applicant given my situation. I’m currently a J2 in ACJC, and I was intending to apply to Amherst ED. My SAT II October results were a disaster (600+ for both) and so I had to defer my application to the RD cycle (sigh).

I wanted to seek input on my competitiveness in the RD cycle in light of these SAT II scores. While I’ll be re-taking them in January, my Amherst application has been complete since September so I’m itching to give it life.

Also, any input on the following schools on my list?:
Amherst, Williams, Brown, Vassar, Hamilton, UMich, Smith, Sarah Lawrence, Yale-NUS

Here are my stats:
SAT I (breakdown): 2220 Superscore (800 CR, 710 M, 710 W), 2190 single sitting
SAT II: Lit 730, Math I 620 (my May 2013 sitting was the better one)

A level subjects: H2 Lit, H2 Theatre Studies, H2 English Language and Linguistics, H2 KI
2 Extended Essays (for KI and TSD, both around 2.5-3k words)

Grades:
J1 Terms: Lit: A, Theatre: A, Linguistics: B, KI: E
J1 Promos: Lit: A, Theatre: A, Linguistics, B, KI: E
J2 Terms: Lit: A, Theatre: A, Linguistics: B, KI: C
Prelims: Lit: A (98.6 percentile), Theatre: A (54%), Linguistics: C (75%), KI: B (30%)
Predicted Grades: Should be AAAA, but may go as low as AABB. A for PW. D for H1 Chinese.

College essays are unique. Amherst one is about overcoming my panic disorder and literature, CommonApp is about being the ‘Asian Elle Woods’, and my UMich one was about my KI class.

I would greatly appreciate feedback on the competitiveness of any aspect of my application! The main question is, however, would I be better off retaking my SAT IIs and applying RD to Amherst or bludgeoning straight on with my SAT II scores for Amherst ED?

Thanks everyone! Have a great day!!!
