^ You are wrong. From [Standardized Testing](<a href=“Home | Dartmouth Admissions”>Home | Dartmouth Admissions)

The first result when you type the query “dartmouth score choice” without quotes. Don’t assume.

ah yes. but im also applying rd to some other colleges which def. do not allow score choice. they will definitely see my poor math II mark. but these colleges, do take your highest score without reservation right? or are they just being politically correct by saying that? I just hope that this small thing will not compromise me in any way for colleges like columbia for eg which do not allow score choice.

Well, even if they require you not to use score choice and are (despite promising not to in writing) looking at all of your scores, you can’t do anything about it. Don’t bother too much about it and concentrate on the rest of your application.

ok thanks man  ive just been really nervous about this recently. the rest of my app. is in order but this is just a little scary for me.

calcutta: you should explain your Math IIC situation. either write a note or get your counselor/math tutor to mention it.

1234d: How do I do this? I have already submitted my entire app and my teachers and councellor have also sent their stuffs in. Are you sure this would be in my interest? My teacher told me I should not make excuses and that the score change would speak for itself. Besides I am only applying for an English major. If it helps, I am going for my interview today. Should I mention it across to my interviewer?

btw, i have a v.similar case to the op. my lit scores on sat were around 600 and i will take it agn in november for ed. sry to butt in.

what college are you applying for? i don’t think the interviewer is in a position to help, and i can almost certainly guarantee he or she would not ask about your SAT score. it might look lame if you bring it up.

Hey all, so I’m almost done with my application while still studying for the As right now. I just have one problem. How do I get my package ready for mailing so that I can pass the packages to my CT. Thanks!

And also, just out of curiosity, to all those applying for Fall 2010, where are y’all applying to? From what I hear, it seems like everyone’s trying for Ivy Leagues and the usual unis…zzzz

i am applying to dartmouth for ed and several other colleges like columbia and yale for my rd round. how do i go about explaining a low satII score? im scated it would come across as making excuses or something like that. the deadline for ed is 1st nov and i too have sent off everything.

cant my school grades, sat i score and my 2nd attempt at math IIc prove that im not an idiot? do i really need to write a note to explain a poor score when i have scored better the next time round already?

They look at the highest scores. You’ve done enough to prove you’re not an idiot by scoring well for the SAT I Math and the SAT II Math Level 2.

RAIRAIRAI: For the counselor package, I would include in an envelope 1 sheet of paper to represent the secondary school report + 2 to 3 sheets of paper to represent the recommendation letter (for official recommendations, my school uses watermarked paper which might be heavier) + all your transcripts + school profile. Then, weigh the envelope and paste the required number of stamps on the envelope before passing the package to your CT.

P.S. I didn’t do this btw. I had my counselor put everything into a school envelope before sealing it and stamping on the seal, after which I sent the entire package for him through SingPost.

calcutta: but do you really want to take the risk? is it so hard to write a simple note to explain your situation and dismiss any lingering doubts the AOs might have when reading your apps? at the end of the day you are the one making the decision and applying to college; i’m just telling you that **I **would do if i were in your shoes.

themerlion: depends. were you sick/off form/etc on that day or were you just unprepared? do you think you can improve to 700+ for the nov sitting? it’s not about making excuses, but if you see no need to explain then so be it.

RAIRAIRAI: follow what kthanksbye has said. if my memory doesn’t fail me postage for counselor’s envelope is around $3.90 and that for subject teacher’s is around $2.40. But remember to check out your school’s policy first.

^ Just put S$4 or S$5 on each envelope like I did. Be safe =p

1234d: I guess I do have to write the note then. How do you suggest I do this? Just drop them an email or snail mail a letter or how? I am not sure who the regional admissions officer or how to go about doing this since my app is sent.

Hi I am a parent sending my child to UWCSEA singapore next year. Do you know anything at all about this school? I know Singaporeans are not allowed to enter international schools. If you have any thought to share, I really appreciate it.

Thank you

I’ve got a question myself. When you invite your teachers to write their recommendations, does it matter if they send in their stuff (like online or via mail) even before your application file is created? I’ve applied to Columbia ED, and I don’t wanna pay the application fees for the other colleges unless there’s an actual need to (i.e. if I’m deferred/rejected ED), and I’ll only know my Columbia decision in mid-December.
