Mootmom, sorry to say, we did not share the same weekend 21 years ago - ours was the weekend before yours (the 2nd).

To everyone else, flowers would be really nice just about now. I just realized that the snow melted in my back yard, and the snowdrops (those little white flowers) are blooming. That means spring is on its way, right?

Typical here in GA - tornados yesterday, grey skies, windy and snow flurries today, but we also have daffodils blooming. Camellia is also blooming.

okay – enough with the flowers guys. However, it is almost March, so maybe spring will come. Of course it still feels like the beginning of February to me. But I discovered it’s almost March today when I went to make plane reservations for D’s spring break… only to find the fare had more than doubled since the first time I priced it out. I missed the three-week window. Good news – D is coming home soon. Bad news – somebody else has to foot the drink bill tonight.

OK, so it’s evening in my part of the world. I’m kicked back on the sofa with the computer on my lap after a long hard day at work, sort of listening to what H is saying while I browse CC…and I realize he’s relating a conversation he had today with a couple of youngish female colleagues, one of whom is almost engaged. She told H she’s pretty sure this is “it” be she wonders what it will be like when they get “old.” He told her he’d felt some concern over the last few years when we were so caught up in being parents of a busy high schooler and wondered what it would be like once we hit the empty nest. He said he knew of several couples whose marriages were seemingly only held together by the kids and fell apart once the kids were gone…but for us it has been better than ever. I asked him how they responded, and he said it was like they were both on cue: “awwwwwwww!”

So while we’re celebrating bethie’s anniversary, here’s to good relationships in general.

mommusic-
We had a dusting of SNOW down here this morning too! Tonight they expect a hard freeze. Goodbye daffodils. Hope it warms up a bit by Saturday or those Ultimate frisbee players are gonna FREEZE in the tournament!

Currently I am sitting in my “zipped lips” location on the Left Coast. Won’t describe the weather we’re having, 'cause I know y’all don’t want to hear it.

But in 2 weeks, I return to a part of the Right Coast where we don’t have Spring. We have Mud Season. So, when I say “I feel your pain,” I really mean I feel your pain.

White Russian for me since I know nothing will hurry Spring where I am headed.

jym626, you’re supposed to be into the 60’s by Saturday. And those Ultimate guys are tough as nails. “60’s? 60’s? We don’t need no stinkin’ 60’s!” And do let us know how your hosting plans are coming along. ;)

I am so bummed, I have been on a trip–in NY!-- and I missed the NY meet up!!! :(

Just caught up on about 10 pages.

Alu, wishing the best to JD.
Garland, a hug to you/your son.
assorted drinks to all experiencing bad weather, bad vibes, bad news…
as well as to those celebrating…

momof3,
Ahhh, relief. 60’s is good-- then they’ll stay outside… elsewhere other than in my basement!! I di find out they’ll be arriving at dinnertime rather than midnight. Not sure which is preferable! And-- flashback to the post-prom party-- the team is apparently coed!! So I politely reiterated that the bedroom in the basement, while not the Ritz, is a perfectly fine place for the chaperones to sleep to keep an eye on their team (and my wine cellar!)

SB- Sorry we missed you!! Maybe next time??

bringing up from page 2… I’m in one of those crappy-for-no-reason moods; someone liven the place up…I need to be entertained!!! Maybe we can get the Marmots to do the Macarena up on the bar???

Spring is beginning to spring, despite snow on the ground. I saw a snowdrop this week. I’ve seen the first green tips of the 200 daffodils and crocuses I planted last fall (mostly because the evil squirrels have been trying to dig them up!)

oh, thank you mommusic!! They were sort of dancing!!!

Mathmom, we are rehabbing an older house in our neighborhood…I’m discovering all the stuff coming up…lots of blooming daffodils, and tulip leaves up already! None of the daffodils at my “real” house are up yet, but the forsythia bushes are starting to bloom… Now THAT is something to be un-crabby about!!!

My forsythia doesn’t bloom for a while, but if I cut off branches and bring them into the house at this time of year they burst open and are very cheery. I was thinking I might do it today, as the bush is encroaching on the driveway again.
