<p>I don’t know if I’m just missing something elementary with the new SIS method for registering for classes, but when I “browse” the course catalog, it appears to show every course ever taught in each department; it does not appear to filter and only show courses that are being taught in the Fall 2009.
Since there is no filter that I can find, it means I have to open each course only to ultimately find it is not being offered in Fall 2009. This takes a lot of clicks and is quite time consuming.
Is there some filter thing that I’m just missing? If there isn’t, then I would hope that UVA would work on developing a mode so that students can easily see only the classes being offered for a given semester.

<p>You have to use the search option. You go to student center (where all the essential functions are) and then click on “search” tab, and “search for class” sub-tab. I prefer COD to SIS but unfortunately it’s gone.</p>

Are you saying there is a mode there where if one selects correctly it will show all the classes being offered in Fall 2009?? That would be great if so. I’m gonna try it right now.

I miss the old COD too. It was easy to see what was being offered, when, and who was teaching it. The SIS system should really try to provide this, though it has some new advantages too.</p>
<p>it is extremely user unfriendly. It probably takes two or three times as long as using the old dual system of ISIS and COD.</p>
<p>For all the interesting new features and benefits the SIS provides, it fails in the most important category of all, usability.</p>
