I was planning on taking six AP’s senior year, mainly to have it on my resume. I am considering dropping AP Statistics and AP Macroeconomics. I am planning on applying to the top Aerospace Engineering schools (MIT, Stanford, GA Tech, Purdue, etc.). I have 2250 SAT and several extracurriculars. I will also be attending MITES @E2 this summer. So I am just wondering if dropping those two classes will matter too much.

They look at AP’s, but having a bunch of AP’s doesn’t really present a significant advantage to a college application or resume. I got accepted to MIT for the 2012-2013 year with seven AP’s total (only two in senior year). Be aware of which AP’s those colleges accept and do not accept.

All in all, dropping those two classes shouldn’t hurt too much, but at the same time, don’t make it look like your senior year courseload is way too easy.
