SJSU Class of 2024 Admissions Thread

@fastfingers02 I’m sure you’ve figured this out since you posted but I’d say you have been denied. Sounds like you didn’t meet the eligibility index for your major or the CSU EI.

@JoJoLa It still says decision pending

@aishaaaaaaaaa congratulations on your acceptance to UCD and SLO that I saw on your other posts. I’m surprised that SJSU hasn’t released their international decisions already but you have great options regardless. Very best of luck with your decision and studying in the US.

@JoJaLa thank you so much! Yeah same here, I don’t know whats taking sdsu and sjsu so long, but not so worried anymore.

@aishaaaaaaaaa Santa Clara County has the largest number of cases of coronavirus in the Bay Area which I feel must be playing into the delay in sending out acceptances to international students. It’s a very urban area so difficult for individuals to implement social distancing and if you’re staying in the dorms they’re tower blocks so spreading of coronavirus would be difficult to contain. If you’re staying in the international house then maybe that would be easier to quarantine. They’re limited in helping students find alternative housing due to the popularity and high cost of the area so if you don’t have family nearby that might be a responsible consideration for them at this current time. Hopefully the CV outbreak will have settled down before the start of the next school year. It’s a super fun area though so not knocking it at all. SLO and UCD are completely different rural campuses. If you were to ask people in the Bay Area (I live in the north bay) what UCD is known for they’d say agricultural sciences, biological sciences and vet-med which I’m sure you’re aware. SLO is highly regarded but I’d do some research into the student culture, diversity (small number of international students) and the type of student that school attracts. SJSU is much more diverse with a slightly higher number of international students but the whole area is a melting pot. UCD is on the quarter system that many students struggle with. They are diverse though and have the highest percentage of international students of the three schools. Davis is a cute sleepy college town in an agricultural area but close to the city capital Sacramento which I feel is often overlooked but a really beautiful city. I’m sure you’re already aware of all of this but just in case any of this is if any help to you …

@JoJoLa I actually didn’t know about the small percentage of international students at SLO. Thanks for the additional information, it was helpful and yes I will do some more research on these schools. Good luck to you too

@Gumbymom Thank you for your inputs. Finally decided not to appeal and let it go. Probably we would pick one of the UCs.

Hello, under view financial aid portal of my daughter it only shows the parent contribution. Does that mean she won’t receive anything from SJSU? I am new at all of this. Thanks!

@epresking1010: Does she qualify for Cal grants and/or Federal Pell grants based on your income?

What is your EFC? Are you in-state or out of state?

Did you run the Net price calculator for an estimate of costs?

@aishaaaaaaaaa Did you ever get a decision from SJSU? I just came across a post, on another forum, asking about international decisions. Wonder if they sent any international decisions out.

Still waiting, hope for the best
anyone know anything about agricultural communication?
Please contact me, thank you so much

@JoJoLa nope :frowning: sjsu and sdsu are both silent from their ends. I got a message in my portal regarding corona virus but thats about it

Hi all! SLO is the last one DS is waiting to hear from. Any Liberal Studies applicants get decisions yet?

still no decision, starting to lose hope :frowning:
