I think i may end up not taking the SAT II’s instead of going into the SAT I this weekend with one week of preparation. So is not taking the SAT II’s and taking the SAT I in december for a better prepared score, be bueno?

One week of preparation is not a bad amount of time if you manage your time well.

You don’t really “prepare” for language subjects, unless you want to memorise vocabulary or something, but you should be past that stage already. So if you take a language subject, you can strike that off your list as something you want to prepare for.

Wait till you start burning the midnight oil at Clemons Library the days before an exam (my roommate is there right at this moment) complete that with falling asleep at Clemons and waking up just in time for breakfast. (Once, I didn’t return to my dorm for two days.)

But really, if you’ve mastered the subject (e.g. you’ve taken it as a high school subject before, or heck, you’re taking it or have taken it as an AP course), you don’t need killer preparation. If all you need is just a refresher to organise concepts, go through spark notes or a study guide, and write out 7 pages outlining stuff you think you NEED to know. Then see if you can work on knowing your outline without looking at it.

This works for a science subject + a language subject. Math definitely requires more than just conceptual preparation, but I suppose the upside is you need less memorisation (you’re not exactly screwed if you forget a formula: you just have to waste time rederiving it, or its principle.)
