hello im a sophomore in high school, moved to the states in 9th grade so had to start from alg 1, earth space etc. This year im taking 4/6 APs offered for 10th graders (the 2 im not taking being AP Drawing and AP media something which i do not see a good reason to take since i am not majoring in a humanities-related field).
I don’t want colleges thinking I slacked off freshman year, will they know I wasnt there for middle school / will i be able to tell them without making it a huge thing in the essays.
P.s. sorry if this is a stupid question, I moved from a country with very little educational opportunities so this is pretty new to me + searching it up gave me nothing.
You can use your background story as an advantage. Also your counselor will be able to elaborate on your specific circumstances in the recommendation letter. Why did you pick those 2 APs though? Will you choose different ones during junior and senior year? Your question is not stupid and it’s a good sign you start doing research now! Good luck!
College admissions isn’t about who has the most AP classes. Don’t take a class just because it has AP in the name.Traditionally, the AP class was the most difficult class that a HS offered. However, now with the flood of AP classes being offered, that is no longer true. Some of the best HS in the country really limit AP classes or have none.
