Small Theatre Department and only 10 people at the audition?

I am going to audition for the BA Theatre program at my university. The university is mainly known for research, business and engineering, and the theatre department is small. I was told by the person who signed me up for the audition that only ten people showed up to audition last semester. Does this mean I have a greater chance of being accepted? Or is this a typical number of applicants?

I always love coming for auditions and finding there is hardly anyone there, because then I know there won’t be much competition, and, yes, it will be easier for me to get a part. The most prestigious theatre programs have THOUSANDS of people audition for just a few places.

You haven’t told us what your school is, or how many places they offer each year. I would guess they could be able to take all ten who audition.

It’s hard to say, because, honestly, they could have just been having a very unattended day. Last week, I was working the auditions and was stunned by how small a group there was compared to the normal numbers.
