Thanks for the update, lori_mom! Keep us posted…sending prayers and good wishes your way. I’m off to google the latest contribution in post #59!

I’d love to hear what you think, spideygirl. One interesting factoid: 80% of the patients at Sestak’s center are male!

Not checking often, but today feeling pretty sorry for myself, so decided to spend some time re-reading, looking for a pick me up. I will check out the newly recommended reading. Thanks

Well, been a long time. Many things have changed. Now a Sr, barely passed a required class, but did- that hasn’t changed. What has: he has enlisted in the Marines. 100% his decision. Not sure it is the best fit for him, but there it is. So, we will continue as he faces this new challenge for all of us. I did see a therapist, tried a few new things, read the books, etc. He qualified for state wrestling this year, a feat we never imagined. Hoping that he decides to succeed in the Marines as well. Trying to decide on a job in the Marines now. Passed MEPS, and is in the Delayed Enlistment Pool with a date of Jan. 2011 right now. He says he plans to get college thru the Marines and after, that he is not equipped to do well in college right now. Can’t argue with that. Just pray he stays safe. Thanks for all the help on here, it meant a lot!

Good luck to your son. The service is the best thing for some kids. I hope he stays safe and matures over the next few years.

Good luck to you and your son. I posted a similar thead about my 7th grade S. Why is it that this issue seems to crop up so much with sons? I have older Ds and they were all completey different. I felt like a failure of a mother because of my Ss lack of motivation, but it has become clear to me that this is something that is not infrequent. I’ve also read a lot about how our eduational system is failing boys. Apparently, we came out of the great depression by greatly improving our educational system and that is what it will take again. I am hopeful that someone will focus on why there are so many boys in this situation. Thank you for your update. I’m sorry for your pain. It’s obvious that you are not alone.

Not sure that my son is going to pass high school and he has told me he is going to join the marines. Currently a junior.
