SNL 50 year anniversary show…tonight!

That’s the feeling I had. I read online comments about his performance, and it seemed many people felt that if you didn’t love it, you were being mean.

My feelings about his performance had nothing to do with being a music critic, it was just a profound sense of sadness that such a great talent has faded. It goes along with a lot of feelings about aging, losing something that has long set you apart, and mortality. It’s not just about him, it’s about what we all face eventually. It’s a fact of life, yet we don’t have to like it. Sometimes seeing the truth of it all is very uncomfortable. Because it’s real for all of us, even if we aren’t a living legend like Paul Simon.

I’m gradually watching the Homecoming concert. I just remarked to my husband how old the B-52s and DEVO looked. As if he and I hadn’t aged from our college days in the early 1980s that we know those groups from.

Now-H & I saw Devo at a roller rink in the very early 80’s. Seeing them brought back great memories!
