Snow....again....in the northeast

OK, I lied.

I went out to dig out the cars… there’s about 2 inches of very heavy snow out there. Heavy, but absolutely not snow-day-worthy.

We got over a foot. I didn’t measure but it’s about up to my knee. I just shoveled so the dog could go out and it’s pretty heavy and there is a lot of it. No school here today.

I don’t know for sure, but the neighboring town got 11", but there’s a huge pile at the bottom of the driveway from the town plow. I’ll try to convince DH not to be a hero and remove all of that pile- we just need enough room to get a car through. I can’t believe we’ll be getting more on Mon. March has been worse than Feb was.

An oak branch fell on my car. Slight dent on the rear and crushed tail light. Dang! I usually park my car away from trees. I forgot to be mindful of trees this time. Senior moment?

It’s hard to tell how much we got - especially since it didn’t start sticking until mid afternoon, but my district isn’t on a delay (just saw school bus go down the street.) My street is slushy

Does look like a winter wonderland outside. Every branch is covered in snow. Very heavy snow.

Out of curiosity, I went out with a ruler, and it is 6" on the back steps. On the other hand, I measured where it came up to on the dog when she was out, and it looks like at least 8". Very dense–great for a snowman.

We got about 11 inches of very wet dense snow. Schools in my town are closed. Schools where I worked have a two hour delay. Not sure how they are going to get all the back roads (where most of the people live…and the buses need to go) plowed. Guessing there will be a lot of absent kids.

@Consolation I figured you would wake up to…snow accumulation.

Yeah, we were surprised to wake up and see only six inches of snow! Still snowing lightly, but we’re not going to get anywhere near the minimum 12" they predicted. Oh, well.

I assume that children and other relatives of my friend will be flying in to be at the celebration of life, so I’m happy if they can get here!

I spoke to my mother in CT this morning, and again things were much more dramatic there. Her power is out again–thank doG for her generator, AND that I got it serviced a few weeks ago, because it had a blown fuse–lots of big limbs and parts of trees down over her property.

In north central CT we only got about 6 inches, if that. We really expected to wake up to more…but…nope. Schools on a delay. As I came into work this morning, the roads are perfectly clear (just wet).

Guess I’ll start looking to see what Monday’s supposed to bring…

Got 14 inches on the back deck, but probably only 10 on the driveway. Lost power for an hour. Twelve trees broken / major limbs down, including one blocking the driveway. On top of this, DH told me our chainsaw is broken

Correction to post #82: DH measured and we only got 7" in central CT. Roads seemed clear this morning, even in my neighborhood which usually gets plowed almost last, but school was still cancelled.

NW CT…we got about a foot according to DH…who cleared the drive. It’s nice now…roads are fine. Even or back road has been plowed. Sunny and above freezing.

Central MA 15 inches of snow. Got the yardstick out to measure for the younger siblings and had to shovel a tunnel for doggies (30 pounders) to put them out this morning. Snow still falling. No school…again! Poor kids will be going into end of June this year. I’m going to call Gov office next week to ask if they might “forgive” some of these days to give the kids a break!
S1 already most likely going to NE University so am sooo glad S2 and D1 are looking at southern schools in the near future lol! After growing up in central Maine I am kinda done with all this snow!

It’s still snowing for us! It’s pretty, but it would be nice if it stopped now!

I am in MA too and we probably have 12 inches of wet, heavy snow. Friends of ours in a neighboring town lost power and don’t have heat. They are coming over to stay in our guest room, assuming power isn’t back on by tonight. We have a whole house generator, which we put in about five years ago. Of course, once we put it in we haven’t had many power outages.

That’s nice of you to be able to help out your friends @Bromfield2! Hopefully you’ll get power soon. We have at least 12 inches of that wet heavy snow too. But luckily we haven’t lost power.

In central MA, we lost a big tree in the front of our house. One kid said there was a flash and a boom so we are wondering if it got hit by lightening. Fortunately it didn’t hit anything. I just walked up and down the street with the dog and almost every house had major tree damage. Miraculously our power is still on. From what I hear, I think most of the town is out.

About 15 inches but it’s still coming down. Lights dimmed a couple times last night but we never lost power. Other people in the state weren’t as lucky.

Got close to a foot in CT, power flickered on and off all night, woke up to lights but no internet/tv. Much of the town fared worse, interesting power line/transformer fire posts on our town Facebook group; many without power today so absolutely not complaining. I see Eversource, Cox, and Frontier trucks around, so am optimistic that cable with be up in the near future. For now, I’m hanging out at our local library where there’s wifi
