Snow....again

There are schools getting out early today. Our town included.

Thank goodness I believe weve seen the last of it in Ohio. My pooch almost had to be re-housebroken because he stopped wanting to go outside because the snow was too his belly in the yard. I expect no less from a prissy poodle!

^2 feet still on the ground? Gosh. Most of ours is all melted except in spots that get no sun. I was out in our yard yesterday picking up branches. Not the most fun but at least I was able to do something outside.

We still have over a foot on the ground, very hard and compact. You can walk on top of it. And, of course, huge snow mountains where it was plowed up.

For the last few days we have had arctic winds. The snow is covered in pine needles, cones, and twigs/small branches. I went from my pea coat in CT last week to my oversized down parka when I got home on Tuesday!

Yikes. What a pain! Hope there will be no repeats of this winter for quite a while!

It’s been blustery here, also. When I came in yesterday my ears were ringing. Should have put on my hat. My back yard is a mess, too. I also did a bit of assessing of shrubs and a lot have significant winter burn and some looked like the deer got to them. :frowning:

I checked our forecast and we are supposed to get less than one inch and tomorrow rain. A lot of years March is like that. I used to take the last two weeks and go to Florida when S was young and I came home to snow on the ground often.

My niece and her H are moving back to Portland this week. I don’t think they thought they’d be moving in winter weather when they planned it.

Yep…it’s snowing. I’m sick of it.

I think we’ve gotten about three inches so far. It’s supposed to continue until midnight. :frowning:

And the back roads…are slick!

I can’t believe it is snowing again. As if things weren’t bad enough, due to his job it is almost impossible for my husband to get a day off before or during expected snow, so he had to move heaven and earth to get the day off to take me to my sister’s funeral. I am completely defeated by this winter.

Zooser…I’m sorry to hear about your sister.

Zooser, so sorry about the loss of your sister.

Last year was a terrible year for landscape plants in the midwest. You could drive down the street and see house after house with browned out shrubs and dead trees. Winter was just too harsh. We lost our entire front line of bushes that lined our front porch - we fed them, nurtured them, read to them (ok, just kidding on that one) and to no avail - they couldn’t be revived - killed me to pull them all out. Our nurseries probably did a great year in sales replacing so many plants. Hope those of you in the east don’t fare like this once this weather is all said and done.

Zoosermom, so sorry.

Abasket, we had a summer like that - the nurseries that guaranteed their plants for a year almost went out of business.

Zoosermom, sorry for your loss.

It’s still snowing here in central CT. It wasn’t snowing when I went to bed last night, so I assumed it was over. Imagine my surprise to wake up to around 2-3" of snow and it’s still snowing. They blew this forecast.

Zoosermom, my condolences.

This morning it is snowing here in CNY and this afternoon it is supposed to turn to rain then sleet then more snow again this evening. The roads are slick now and will be slippery tonight. The 10-day forecast doesn’t get any better. So our foot of snow in the yard will hang around like an unwanted fraternity brother.

Zoosermom, I am so sorry to hear about your sister. My condolences to you and your family.

Stopped snowing here early last night. Maybe got 1/2 inch. Waiting for the rain to come and wash it all away, but its beautifully sunny out right now.

TonyK - we went to Syracuse last Sunday and it was like being in Siberia. Naturally, started snowing as soon as we hit Utica.

Most of my shrubs are much older than a year so no chance of getting replaced. The Princess Yaku rhododendrons were particularly hard hit and I have six of them in the garden under the bay window in the front of the house. I have to go online and see if there is anything I should do. The leaves are definitely going to fall off but the buds seem okay. And the leaves that were buried under the snow are fine.

Condolences and good wishes for comfort and peace to lighten your grief.

So sorry about losing your sister, zoosermom. Even the best winter would defeat us in those circumstances.

sorry for your loss

All of yesterday’s snow is gone and it hasn’t even started raining yet. I sent H out into back yard to pick up more debris.
