Snow....again

Glad no one was hurt, 1214mom

Thanks. I should also add that I wish his learning things the hard way didn’t keep costing me money… But I am SOOO glad he didn’t hurt himself or anyone else.

Very lucky no one was hurt!

When my son had his first accident when he rear ended another car, it really dawned on him how powerful a force a vehicle is. Of course two weeks later is when he banged into frozen snow pile ruining the brand new bumper. But he’s been 5 years accident free.

Experience is the best teacher.

I can relate emilybee. A few years ago I was rear ended by a pickup truck. The car was repaired and a day or two later I was sitting in a coffee drive-thru line waiting to move forward. A car slammed into my rear and I really lost my cool. How do you smash into the car in front of you in a drive-thru?

Thankfully the woman who hit me apologized and batted her eyes and smiled and gave me her address and phone number. She was a knockout and I kinda wanted my bumper to fall off so I had an excuse to call her. Now I flinch whenever the driver behind me applies their brakes too late. .

Last year there was a LP gas shortage and when one could get a partial tank fill, it was $5/gal. Many in my area turned off their furnaces, hung blankets, and relied on small electric heaters. My house was about 58, my bedroom 48. It was truly a horrid winter.

So…I’ve tried to be really cheery this winter since I have heat…but enough is enough…it’s March 7th! Pretty sure I’m going to reach out and strangle the phone if I get one more automated call that school is delayed or canceled!

@emilybee, I’m hoping my guy can go five years accident free. He had his first accident in December of 2011, just weeks after getting his license. We got over the bad 3 year insurance period, but didn’t make it to the rate reduction before this latest one. That accident was very minor, but we turned it into insurance because we didn’t know any better.

@sryrstress , we had the same issue with our shop last year…we could only get 1/2 tank fill at a time , which didn’t last long in the size of the building we have. The winter was so cold too that we couldn’t wait between scheduled propane fills , so the company would charge extra money for a trip that wasn’t on our designated day…luckily , we were able to upgrade to natural gas shortly after which has been a godsend.

Hi Everyone…so I saw this article that has the data for the worst hub airports for winter travel. Definitely something I will keep in mind while travelling in the future! http://www.usatoday.com/story/travel/columnist/mcgee/2015/03/18/airports-winter-on-time-flight-delays-cancellations/24906949/

correction; sorry to be negative. The title should read the best hub airports for winter travel. It’s been a long winter and I’m thrilled to see some bulbs starting to pop up here in the midwest;)

Well…it’s supposed to snow 1-3 inches here Frisay night. Can’t wait.

You’re getting 1 to 3? We’re getting 2 to 4 – but then 45 degrees on Saturday, so I don’t plan to shovel.

Three to six inches predicted here, but I am trying to ignore the forecast; it can’t possibly be correct!

Really? Someplace in CT is supposed to get 3-6? Hoping that’s totally wrong…and also hoping it doesn’t shift to HERE!

From the Western Connecticut State Weather Center: A winter weather advisory is in effect for northern Fairfield County from 6 a.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Saturday, with 3 to 6 inches of snow expected.

I saw. We in northern CT are only supposed to get an inch or two. Which is quite enough since almost two feet of snow is still on the ground!

We had another No School Day yesterday in parts of Central NY. At first it was a Two Hour Delay but another 6 inches of snow and high winds shut them down. Tomorrow’s storm should only drop an inch or two. We still have over a foot of snow covering the yard.

We had very high winds both Tuesday and Wednesday. But thankfully, no snow. But tomorrow, we might get some.

It’s the first day of spring, for heavens sake! This is not the arctic!

Seattle must be the only place where it has not snowed this winter - I know, we are really lucky. It even snowed big time in the mountains in HI! The waiter who brought us our drinks last night could not understand why we were not excited about snowfall on Haleakala!

It is fairly normal for HI to get snow on its highest peaks on Maui and the Big Island. It would be BIG news if anywhere else in the state got snow. HI rarely gets hail, but it has fallen in our state from time to time.
