Charge up your electronics and maybe charge up your spare power supply, for good measure. There are a out worse places to be stuck than DC.
I tend to be cynical when it comes to “snowmageddon” predictions. When I was a freshman in high school a blizzard was predicted. My dad came to school and practically dragged me out of my classroom saying there was a hell of a blizzard coming on and embarrassed the crap out of me … we got maybe three inches of snow. So I’ve always taken it with a grain of salt.
^^I thought kids loved it when parents got all wacko like that?
“Charge up your electronics and maybe charge up your spare power supply, for good measure. There are a out worse places to be stuck than DC.”
Yep, got em all charged. I’m in a good place, however, I’d rather be stuck in Hawaii!
A hotel near Dulles would lose power? Or is this some small one, BD? The biggies generally have generators, no? At least for minimal support, and I’d think Dulles, especially. Am I wrong?
(Now I realize you probably mean shopping locally. Okie. Nevermind.)
They just said that the Ducks/Capitals game got moved up to start at 5pm tomorrow, if that affects anyone’s plans!
On my way back from CT to NYC, my niece called me frantically to see if I could give her a ride to NYC because her flight from Hartford to Charlotte was cancelled. There was no snow in Hartford, and nothing was really happening in NC. She is now on a 6:30am flight out of NYC to Raleigh, Charlotte or Atlanta, depending on what’s available. Another possibility is she will be with me for the whole weekend.
@busdriver11 All the schools are closed tomorrow. Early morning will probably be the best time to head out if you need anything. Just try to get back by early afternoon.
The winter storm warning in Charlotte starts at midnight tonight.
Sorry, she was going to Raleigh, not Charlotte. She called her parents in Charlotte, and every flight is cancelled.
College freshman DS flew back to school in PA today instead of Saturday. School emailed to avoid Saturday arrivals and opened the dorms a day early. He was not thrilled about heading back early, but didn’t want to risk a chance of missing class on Monday if Jonas is as severe as predicted. I was kinda ready for him to head back
Stay safe everyone.
Hope, she has friends in Raleigh, Atlanta…as things don’t look too great there either. She might be better off staying with you @oldfort my guess is the air traffic on the whole eastern part of the country is going to be botched up.
Just landed at dca. My sister works at rdu and all flights are cancelled now through Sunday. Closed the office for tomorrow and now I just hope we can pick up a few things at the grocery store on the way home.
@greenwitch I hated it - maybe because he did it so often.
Wow!
So glad D1 is safely ensconced in her little house in Durham. I guess they are going to get slammed.
Stay safe everyone.
@busdriver, let me know when you’re in HNL and we can meet for the world’s best gelato, or something else.
Thanks, HImom! I can only dream about a trip to Hawaii right now, but I’ll add the worlds best gelato to my fantasies.
Well, I’m at the airport and my flight to Charlotte is cancelled. However, now they found me something out of DCA in the. nick of time, so I think I’m out of here. Good luck, everyone!!
Send good vibes that New Jersey coast doesn’t have destructive flooding AGAIN! Earlier predictions in week compared high tides ans back bay levels almost. Reaching that terrible "*(S) *word storm.
20 foot waves off our shores is an event, and full moon, winds up to 60 mph geesh.
We live inland 10 miles, so we are safe, it’s all our neighboring shore towns. Thinking of you @lje62 !!!
Ready the roof rakes!
