Snow storm? Really?

A friend in westchester posted something about the dramatic differences in accumulation within short distances apart. One area 1-3 in and nearby 18 in.

Northern NJ about 10 miles outside NYC - at least 2 feet so far.

@“Cardinal Fang”
Your mom’s home is probably like the agency I moonlight with. The staff probably wasn’t allowed to leave if no one could arrive to replace them. She’ll be fine. Clients come first, as they should.

My church council president was stuck in Orlando. Not fair!

Looks like we’re going to hit over 27 inches where I am.

Just flew in to the south from Denver. It’s colder here than it was there.

Heard from a friend in Harrisburg, PA. They got 29 inches.

We have about 25.5". Three miles away, they’ve got over 30". S2 has not started to dig out the driveway. He’s going to be stunned when I don’t help him. I usually do, but since I had knee surgery two weeks ago, I’m not taking the chance.

Augusta had some snow yesterday, jym. Don’t know what the temp was, but clearly cold enough to precipitate!

kKmama, I’m sorry you have to be taking care of this difficult client. I also feel sorry for the client. It’s not like peeing forty times a day is fun and enjoyable.

Yes, CD. Atlanta did too. A dusting.

@RyanG1207 --We’re also about ten miles from NYC in North Jersey. And about two feet of snow.

This is NOT what I was expecting when I went to bed last night.

2 feet in western suburbs of Philadelphia and still snowing with strong winds. Cleared driveway around 3 PM with lots of help from neighbor and his new snowblower but lots more work to do tomorrow.

Not really sure how much we have in central CT. I’d guess around 3-4", but it could be less. It didn’t really start snowing til 2:30.

I feel for those of you dealing with feet of snow. A few years ago they were expecting Boston to get killed by a storm, but it ended up that parts of CT were in the heaviest snow bands. We had 30" of snow. It was unbelievable and a pain to clean up.

Is it over yet?

D just texted me. She’s in the Lehigh Valley and they’ve received 30" of snow. She somehow got to the bar and is having a good time. Oh to be young.

It’s supposed to stop snowing here around midnight. Tomorrow starts the dig out. The governor already said it could take until the middle of the week to plow all the back roads. I am guessing schools will be closed all week.

deb, as long as she can get OUT of the bar and back to her place, all is well.

thigh high in NJ and still coming down…

@eyemamom – are you in MD? (Am guessing so based on your profile pic.)

My sister is down in MD and I recall the governor declaring a state of emergency and excusing the schools from having to make up the snow days. As someone posted earlier about the Blizzard of '78, I still remember sitting around school until June 30th as that was the last day we could be in school.

Even during our many power outages, we have never had the snow days excused. Perhaps the emergency has to be statewide as opposed to only at the shoreline?

I-270 and I-70 in MD are closed til tomorrow am.

About 26 inches so far at my house in Montgomery County, MD, with drifts as high as my picket fence. D in central Virginia got a foot or so. Do colleges tack on extra days for missed classes?
