Our street is pitch dark - all the lights are out and our home lights just blinked. Hoping we continue to have power.
I just tried to walk my dog, and found everything coated with ice. My driveway was a sheet of ice. I let the dog do his business on the lawn where I could at least get traction on the snow, and went back inside.
Yikes, Raclut. I’m also in the DC area. I thought there wasn’t going to be enough ice to cause power outages.
@barbalot The street lights have come back on now. I hoping we will have power all night long.
A lot of the counties have already announced school closings and I think FFcounty has a two hour delay.
I think there will be ice on the roads tomorrow morning but I am hoping that by afternoon things will be much better.
We were supposed to move to our new office over the weekend, but it has thankfully been pushed back a week. I don’t think I would enjoy a brand new commute on a day with icy roads.
I hope you don’t lose power, raclut.
I’m on the road at 5 am. The forecast says it’ll be about 40 then, hopefully the ice on the roads will be mostly melted by then.
@NoVADad99 I don’t know how you do that commute everyday. I hope you reach to work safely.
Drive was fine this morning, only took 10 minutes longer than usual. Worst part of the commute was getting out of my street.
My school where I teach, which hadn’t skipped a beat up until now, closed for the first two classes this morning; looks like the icy/rainy/snowy mess didn’t resolve as quickly as we though it would.
Wish i had looked at my phone before I got up at 6 and got in the shower. I’m up now. Oh well. NIce to not be rushing out.
stay safe everyone

Mostly for the $$ :). Oh, the life of a Beltway Bandit.
Thanks for the update , NoVAdad. Glad you got to work safely.
Where I live we has a bad storm last night but its fine today. And public school in our county is on vacation this week. Light traffic!! Yay!
All the schools closed over here and the college is opening at 11:30am. 50 degrees and lots of rain. Looks like there is going to be flooding.
No school here today. My district actually had school. Many others were off for the Presidents’ Day weekend. Icy this morning…on top of three inches of new snow. After days of subzero temps…the roads were a glaze of ice.
Ice scares me. A friend is still recovering from surgery due to falling on ice in DC. I’m scheduled to go to DC later this month. Hope it all the ice is gone!
@himom The thing about this area is the weather changes from day to day. For example yesterday was snow and ice. Today was warmer so we had flooding with all the melted ice. This weekend it is supposed to be in the 60’s.
I will just bring warm clothes and be very cautious about walking outdoors.
Ok so we are expected to have 60 degree weather this weekend which I look forward too but chance of snow on Monday or Tuesday? No thank you.
Going to Olin this weekend. Thankfully the weather will cooperate.
