Snowmageddon PNW Edition - Part 2

@eandsmom
My guess is that you may lose your April break. Something like this happened on East Coast after super storm Sandy. In m sisters case they lost their February break but graduation stayed the same.

Our school district just announced that they are serving hot food and grab-and-go lunches for kids who are missing meals usually provided at school. They are even trying to deliver food to those who can’t make it to the site.

On the other hand, my neighbor just tried to chase off the city plow that finally visited our cul-de-sac, because her kids didn’t want their sled run and jumps destroyed. Grr.

I just switched my flight tomorrow afternoon from upstate NY to Florida because of Maya. I cant get out now until Friday late afternoon. I had to switch my return, too, as I was supposed to come back on the 20th. So now I’m on a flight home on the 25th.

It never fails that they day I pick to go there is a snowstorm mucking things up.

Wow, I’d be annoyed with my neighbor, too @KnearSeattle !

That is obnoxious, Knear Seattle! I hope she was unable to chase off the plow, how selfish.

Lol - my maintenance guy is back, shoveling some more! :slight_smile:

Lol. He is really enjoying it (and the $$ that comes with it I guess). :slight_smile:

Snow is coming down like cray here northeast of the city.,. Might have to work from home tomorrow, too! Mister is having a very productive day as well. Meeting after meeting - and my avatars are helping him by warming his lap. :slight_smile:

Does anyone have suggestions for dealing with the snowmageddon blues? I’m suffering through my blues in Wisconsin, not the PNW, but the tips might be the same. Thank you!

1D made it into her new job this morning.

It’s been snowing most of the day here NW of the city. I don’t see it stopping unless the temp rises quickly. All of our battery packs for phones, iPads, etc. are charged up in case we lose power from heavy snow.

We’re concerned about our place across the sound as they’re expected to get 4-8” through tomorrow morning. We have a whole house generator if power goes out, but it looks like it will be a week before we can get over there to check on things.
ETA: power out across the sound (alarm sends notices). Could be more than 8” coming. There are so many trees on highway 101 overhanging power lines so this happens a lot.

@rosered55 - here you go.

:slight_smile:

Really pouring down snow here in Ballard area. Pointless to shovel it at this point. I have some more meetings tomorrow which I am going to try to make. It is supposed to warm up a bit but does not look like it at the moment!

I have a friend who is one of the people coordinating snow removal and general emergency work for the city. From his FB posts, he’s working really really hard and really long hours to keep y’all safe! Stay warm!

The southeast has the same issue with little or no snow clearing equipment, and when it melts and refreezes it’s not very driveable. But we get laughed at for not driving in that.
Stay safe everyone in Washington and wherever the storm is headed.

But thanks for the 17” of fresh powder for skiing this weekend :slight_smile:

D lives on Lake Washington (west side). How are they faring in that part of town? I can’t text her while she’s at work.

@Nrdsb4 A coworker who lives near Seward Park texted, "Even with melting still have 8-10” and still coming down. "

Temperatures have risen, but the snow hasn’t stopped. It’s turned to the gloppy snow we usually get here: Seattle cement.

Productive day so far. Finalized two big projects and digging into third. Baked 2 loaves of bread while doing this (pre-made dough ahead of time). Mister says pox on you CC because it is all your fault that he is eating bread! Just kidding. He says two thumbs up to my internet buddies. He carried the flour from the store last night and shoveled our multiple flat surfaces outside. A little bread does not hurt. :slight_smile:

So they don’t use beet juice in Seattle?

Beet juice would be in Bellingham!

@Nrdsb4 - look at @wadot_traffic on twitter or https://www.wsdot.com/traffic/seattle/default.aspx
The DOT website has a camera list. It’s handy to see what the roads are like in different areas. If you click on traffic & cameras and the on “statewide” you can see a list of all of the camera locations
