So Amazon Prime Day Flopped, Let's Talk JET.COM

What do you know about it? How do you understand it to work?

I signed up a few days ago and got my invitation code for a free 6 month membership today - I think it goes live in 5 days.

Will this rival Amazon? Will it burn out like Groupon??? Thoughts.

I looked online and saw free 3 month trial otherwise $49/yr I have no idea what this is. Here is a preview article on it.

So as I explore a little bit, it seems a LITTLE like Amazon + Costco + Ebates. Shop on jet.com and get items discounted. Shop elsewhere (with their current 700 online stores available) by connecting to their website through jet and earn “jet bucks” - to use to purchase stuff on Jet.

So for instance, it shows Athleta as a partner at 2.75%. If I go to Jet, search Athleta, click through to Athleta from Jet and purchase $100 from Athleta…I will earn $2.75 to spend on Jet (you also have to foward your order confirmation and eventually your receipt to Jet. So by shopping other places THROUGH Jet, you can earn Jet $$$. Or you can just order things discounted on Jet. Free shipping over $35 and free returns is what I see.

Gap is currently at 30% Jet cash, Macy’s 15% , Crate and Barrel 10% - online shopping ONLY!!!

I just bought the Weber charcoal grill from Jet that I’ve been looking for. It’s $149 everywhere, but I got it from Jet for $135 and free shipping.

We’ll see if I want to continue after my free trial.

How are you buying anything from Jet? It’s not even up yet.

I got a six-month free thingie.

I entered my email for it, but all they said is to wait for upcoming emails. I tried to register but it requires a promotional code.

I think I got my email within a few hours, and then to sign on I entered my “access code.”

How can I get the 6 months free?

Go to the jet website, scroll down, and put your email in.

^^
thanks, initially I hit login and that is where it says 3 months free.

I entered my email a couple of days ago - got the code today. Be patient, it will probably come soon!

Well, this is going to interesting. I received this email this morning. If this is how they operate, they won’t be successful!!

Oh no! That is not good! What if you are not home to “receive”???

I figure it’s not my problem.

It’s likely a bug because they haven’t even officially launched yet.

Anybody can have bugs in their system. I exchanged shoes on Zappos, a company known for good customer service. When you do an exchange, the shoes are to be sent next-day business, but when I checked, the shoes were coming by UPS Ground and not scheduled to arrive until next Tuesday. When I called Zappos, they said it was apparently a glitch in their system that they were forwarding to IT to resolve. Even the customer service rep had to manually change the delivery option since she couldn’t even get next-day business to work for her either.

Zappos made good on the problem, which I expected they would. Hopefully this isn’t a signal of things to come with jet.

Who owns Zappo’s?

Amazon had to buy-out their competition. Business as usual.
