this really doesn’t have much of a point, but i think people here might understand my frustration. tonight was my graduation, the moment that has be coming so incredibly slowly for what seems like forever. the evening was already going badly, and i won’t get into that, but then they withheld my diploma because they don’t have any record of me paying for cap and gown. so after trying to check the records (which they won’t or can’t, i’m not sure which, do because the bookkeeper isnt’ there), i go home empty handed. then at home, i find the receipt for my cap and gown. i’m just very ****ed at my school right now.

WhAT>!!! GO and deman ur diploma

yeah agreed!^
Everything you worked for, for 4 years is that highschool diploma… and they didnt give it to you for financial issues???
Schools are just… just… arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!

that is just obnoxios. even if they give you the diploma at the ceremony and then take it back afterward until you have proof of payment. they shouldn’t just ruin your moment like that. it just shows that they have no imagination, ingenuity, or class.

Actually, nobody at my school got their diploma at graduation. We were handed these folders with a note that said we would need to return to the school to collect our diplomas after final grades had been calculated and library fines accounted for.

well, i got my diploma this morning. so now high school is finally over… this time for sure.

That sucks.

LOL… at my school you won’t get your official diploma if you have a library book out or didn’t pay your transcript fee and a few other studpid things. You can still walk and you get the folder that the diploma comes in but when you open it up… you get a sweet notice from the administration stating that you have to zero up your balances before you get the real deal. It happens to alot of kids each year and it is quite funny!

At my school, years ago, at the graduation ceremony, they gave us a fake diploma, in the leather folder thing. They did it because there were so many kids it would have been easy to mix up the folders. So after graduation, we went to a table and got the actual diploma. Sounds weird, but they had made so many errors before giving people the wrong diploma because the name was inside the folder, they did it that way. No big deal.

Someone told me that my school once had an issue where a student didn’t pay the lunch bill. The school tried to withhold the diploma, and the student took it to court and won, so my school gives them out to everyone. We get a sign out sheet a couple weeks before we graduate that we take to all our teachers, principal, counselor, and secretary to make sure we’ve paid the bills. I don’t know what they’d do now if someone refused to pay.

Since when do you have to order a cap and gown in order to graduate?

^ i know what you mean…DAT IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS A SCHOOL WILL DESTROY SOMEONE’S MOMENT TO REMEMBER JUST BECAUSE OF MONEY. DEMAND YOU GET YOUR DIPLOMA and mail the school and school district how frustrated you are.

wow, I cant believe they would do something like that. Expressing condolences.

we have senior checkout sheets, but cap and gown payments isn’t included in it. so… yeah. and we also just get diploma holders during the ceremony then we pick up our diplomas afterwards. so i waited in my assigned room as pretty much everyone else got their diplomas. then at the end, the teacher listed the people getting their diplomas held. so it was a bit of a nasty shock. then i went to the office, tried to figure out how they lost my payment for like 15 minutes, and finally left. but it’s over now. and i already greatly dislike my school, so at least it didn’t really ruin anything. my whole high school experience hasn’t been all that great, so i don’t know why i expected graduation to be any good.

they should have given you some notice, that was lame, I would complain, because it actually takes more work to do it that way, than to send you a notice a couple of days before so you could straighten it out.

But you are OUTA THERE!!! where are you going to college or you taking a break…

my D wrote a great speech for her graduation luncheon and the teacher picks three. Of course my D was # 4. The other speeches are cliched and boring. my D was mad, but she figures she will be out of her yucky school soon and thats what get her through.

CONGRATULATIONS BTW!!!

thank you. i’m going to be attending purdue for engineering this coming fall. this summer will hopefully be for rest. every summer since 8th grade i’ve had summer school in order to get required classes out of the way so i can take more science and elective classes. but this year, nothing, as long as i got a 4 on my english language AP. so hopefully this summer will be for traveling (going to italy for sure, then there are a couple tentative plans for roadtrips), catching up with friends who left me for college last year, spending some last moments with other friends, enjoying my last couple months of home cooked meals, and just giving myself a bit of a break before freshman engineering tries to kill me.
