Burn! lol. I figure that that is probably what will happen. I think I can bring it up to a 3.53-3.56. Would that change anything? Also I figure my “hook” is that I work for a local community newspaper that gets distributed to 43,500 people ( I want to go into journalism and major in English).

I don’t think there is anything you can do at this point. Truthfully a 3.56 would be way too low without some sort of hook (Daddy donated millions, your an athlete, etc.). JMU will take you, no question…in fact, they will come and get you.

Good luck!

So why didn’t they just reject me ED?

Only one reason. Because they continue to see you as a potential admit or wait lister. Now’s the time to pursue post #3. Cannot hurt a bit. Remember, Baptists do it a whole lot. ;)

Thanks for the lift. :)

You know? I agree with Whistle Pig…I hope he/she’s not joking about it. As to why you were waitlisted…why do they hold such a large waitlist at any school…especially at W&M where they won’t take more than 6 off the list? It’s a courtesy to you and to your school…Don’t forget that my opinion and the opinions of others here are just that…opinions. Fist glance, it seems that your GPA is too low for consideration…but that is not the sum total of your application. With that said, anything is possible, but in your case, not probable. At your highschool, a 3.5 might be stellar, who knows? I think it’s very prudent for you to make sure you have a really, really good Plan B. You can always transfer to William and Mary after a good Freshman year somewhere else. Good luck.

A 3.5 does not put you in the reject pile by itself, as you have found out. However, it does stack the cards against you. There are certainly some kids at WM who had 3.5s in high school who aren’t recruited athletes (or kids of big donors), but they are definitely in the minority.

Yea, there was someone on CC who got accepted ED and they had 3.56. But my backup school is Mary Wash, which I love too. Do you guys want me to post like my whole resume so you can see my whole app? Thanks.

bump…

Sure, only if you want to… but if you somehow bring up your GPA a lot it may show the College you’re a hard worker and improve your chances… I hope you get in for your sake and join us on campus next year!
