What can I do to be accepted regular decision? Anything?
Has anybody been deferred and then accepted on here? I REALLY want to attend WM!

Deferred as well. I am going to send a revision to my app in the mail, and load the envelope with candy and dollar bills.

Do you believe in prayer? I’ve found it works … always, when genuinely offered. Key is praying for that which He desires for you.

hey shinyboots, when you said “candy and dollar bills”, do you literary mean that?? or is it just figurative language?

lol. good advice everyone. Has anyone been deferred and then accepted on here? What are the chances?

I “literary” mean nothing, because sadly, I have not yet mastered the art of reading.

I don’t know starling, do you think they like candy?

Yea. Million $ bars. They can use them for financial aid, then. ;)

I was thinking recees…

Maybe toss in a pic of me running shirtless by the college for a little sex appeal?

Last suggestion could work… best of luck to BOTH of you!

Thanks!

Lovebug, if you want I can send you a pic of me running shirtless for your revision too.

Shinyboots … that’s not a slam dunk strategy. One of those that sorta “depends” …

You might wanna hold that for the “wait list” approach. And make sure your hair’s trimmed, Lady G. :)

Yea, maybe a pic would help. But its too late. I sent in my updates. my fate is sealed!

I am so sorry that you guys got deferred. I heard that W&M only takes the top best, and then they choose more average applicants during regular decision. So I think that you guys will get in regular. I am suprised you did not get in ED. If you do not get in, you can do what that one girl did and protest outside the office of admissions for one week!

Do you think that if you got a very high ACT score, like 34 and up, that
W & M would admit you if your GPA was lower? Thanks.

That depends. And you’ve not provided sufficient information to offer an opinion worth anything. Can you be specific?

I have a 3.4 GPA–weighted. I’ve taken 5 AP classes ( My school only offers 8). I’m also in the Cambridge Program, and I’ve taken six of these classes. (Cambridge is like IB).
I have really strong ecs, recs, and essay.

bump…

Looks like the GPA is what’s hurting your chances, but the fact that you were deferred as opposed to rejected means they’re still interested. You will probably get in if your ECs and essay are as strong as you say.

The good ACT score will help. Good luck!

Your GPA is too low. I do not think you will be accepted regardless of improving your ACT/SAT/Picture/Essay/etc.
