So Much Stress

This is my first post, I am a Sophomore in Highschool, this sounds pretty crazy but I have to balance so much in my life right now, its not even funny… I have Football lifting/training at like 6 o clock in the morning (so I have to wake up around 5:15 at the latest) and I have Track and Field after school and Homework and then Robotics club, which I like, Its just filled with nerds… and also lifting, Yea I am dedicated to lifting, some may call obsessed… Well I really want to catch up on my grades, they are all mostly B’s with 1 C in AP Comp Sci Class (its just ■■■■ moments… I have been programming with C++ since I was 12, LOL but this class is Java, so kinda messes me up with some ideas) and An “A” in football… LOL it doesnt count. Well I really want to raise everything to all solid As by end of next semester, and I start with a clean slate (Semesters over in 2 weeks) So I really need advice… I really need to get off the computer and Facebook… LOL

Its not I am dumb, just getting my work done thoroughly and well, I just half ass HW and never study but I pull off all As and Bs on my tests… Must be my Asian Genes…

My Goals:
Get all As for the next semester and the 2 years after that.
Stay in Robotics and Football AND track rest of my highschool career
Ace teh SAT, get like 2400
I am really aiming high with this, College choices:
MIT
CalTech
Stanford
USC
UCLA
CalStates

Majoring in Computer Sciences.

Don’t Laugh, I have a 17.5% of getting into CalTech and like 8% into MIT according to stats… So I am dead serious

To be pragmatic, I’d say aim for USC and under.

Its better to aim higher to push my self farther and more than aiming lower, even if I reach the lower goal, I want to put forth the effort as if I want the highest goals

edit:
Who in the world aims to be second string on Varsity or even being on JV instead of Varsity, You have to aim to be a starter.

Why Aim for the B on the final while you can aim for an A? Why be sub par? Success comes to those who take risks and never give up.

The motivational cliches are all dandy, but look up pragmatic before you respond again.

Never let anyone tell you that you cant do something, You know what, I still got 2.5 years of highschool left, I can do it. Anyways I am aware of the word pragmatic, Im not stupid. Is it practical to aim lower than you can aim for? (Look at my above post)

No need to be so harsh to the guy lol let him shoot high

btw david you have a chance at any school if you’re willing to push yourself, it’s still early for you anyways

Well great, welcome to life.

Why are you posting here? How can we help you?

Why aim for MIT then? Just run for president my friend.

Cut your ethernet cable, create more time.

While it’s definitely a good idea to aim for the highest, you have to remain realistic and realize that schools like MIT are crapshoots, and that even the best of the best end up getting deferred, only to get rejected. So have backups ready, just in case.

I hated Java lol. Perl was much better.

Yeahh, track represent! Today, it was below freezing, and we had ladders. 2x 500m (80s), 400m (62-65s), 300m (45-48s), and 200m (27-29s) with 300m walk. It sucked, cause we’re all sprinters, and those 500s just came out of nowhere.

IDK Just writing down the goals and telling the world is the best way of setting goals, its just mentality

edit: Im more of a thrower LOL, Im training to get faster, Im strong as hell but on the slower side.

edit: Well then I guess I have to become the bestest of the best than

You run track in Jersey?

^ Yup.

Public school? What group

Non Public South A, but we have regular dual and tri meets with some schools in Group IV.

Oh non-public. I run central Group IV, you a sprinter?

Set up Internet blockers for time-sucking sites (I use Leechblocker for Mozilla…but as you can see, I’ve found ways around it) and get off the computer. Sacrifice a social life. And wait for the burnout to set in. Some kids can balance everything and keep their 4.0–these kids are either the rare supergenius or go to easy schools. If you’re not that person, get your C’s up to B’s and your B’s to high B’s or A’s and continue with your robotics interests.

MIT has a really interesting admissions blog, which I recommend checking out. They say that their accepted students usually have a healthy mix of A’s and B’s (just keep in mind that “healthy” does not mean “equal”) and a clear demonstrated passion in science/math. With that in mind, it’s probably best not to worry too much about subjects outside of those disciplines (meaning, accept a B, not a C) and focus heavily on Robotics. You can’t do everything, but you can focus and apply yourself in the areas where your strengths lie.

Yeah, I run the 200m, 4x200m, 400m, and 4x400m.

Cool. I run 55/200/400 in the Winter and 100/200/400 in the Spring, with the relays associated. I’m not really a 400 runner, more of a converted 400 runner due to the necessity of the team. What are your times like?

Thank god for Youtube’s Lectures… I found the MIT Comp Sci Lectures
