So what's your favorite "guilty pleasure"?

DH will be away on Friday and I plan to have Trader Joe’s Indian food and watch “Love Actually”! Just wondering what folks like to do that might surprise others…

What TJ’s Indian food do you like? I was going to order out the last time DH was out of town but my favorite place was closed. (Biryani is my comfort food.)

I’m a huge fan of Indian food but it’s hard to find here in Maine! I found nan bread and chicken tikka in TJ’s but I’m not expecting it to be amazing. We are from England where there are so many excellent Indian restaurants and I miss them so much. First thing I do when I go back is to eat out ! I have tried making curries at home but they never turn out quite as good. Lamb passanda with peshwari nan is my ultimate favorite dish.

Okay. My guilty pleasure is white bread lightly toasted with butter melted all over it and then a layer of marshmallow fluff.

I can’t stop at one so I have a self-imposed rule that I follow. I can only eat it when it’s snowing hard. Last winter I only got it once.

Okay, this is horrible, and I seldom buy microwave popcorn for this reason. I love to scrape the “butter” off the sides of the bag and eat it. It’s a heart attack waiting to happen.

I do and like all sorts of peculiar things but this is the one I legitimately feel guilty about. Maybe I need a rule like EPTR’s. :)

HyperJulie,
It works for me! Although I guess if I lived in a place where it snows constantly, I might have a problem.

My guilty pleasure - during vacations, reading until midnight or later because I know I don’t have to work the next day. Teacher guilt = reading.

PEANUT BUTTER!!!

… enough said.

How about eating pomegranates and watching anything on TNT (except sports), with two little fuzzy dogs snuggled up beside me. With nobody there, wanting me to change the channel, talking in the middle of the show, and needing me to get them something.

Doesn’t seem too guilty to me, but I like it!

My wife makes the best oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. Fortunately she doesn’t make them every day because I keep eating them until they are gone. Every time she turns around I grab a few more. But they are OATMEAL (=“healthy”) LOL

Peanut butter is a staple. If I need a quick energy boost, drag a regular spoonfull flat against the rim to level it off…one or fewer per day is a staple. More is a guilty pleasure.

I use every sandwch as a vehicle for delivering mayonnaise to my pig face.

I buy Culver’s frozen custard only on days when the featured flavor has the word “brownie” in the title. Otherwise I would eat it every day and weigh 400 lbs.

Unfortunately, due to early childhood memories, mayonnaise makes me gag. I can take it in tuna salad, but otherwise I will throw away the sandwich and go hungry rather than eat one with mayo. it makes life difficult.

If I pile that peanut butter on celery, it’s healthy, right?

White toast topped with chunky peanut butter and crisp bacon.

You’ve got all the basic food groups: fat, salt, and carbs.

Peanut butter is not a guilty pleasure, it’s practically a daily necessity! (I eat it out of the jar with a spoon, too.)

Ice cream, especially any sort of coffee/chocolate combo, is my guilty pleasure. I try not to have it too often or the pounds start to pack themselves on. So when I do indulge, I use a small bowl and try to eat slowly.

Oh, and mayonnaise is one of the major food groups in our house. We always have a backup jar of Hellman’s in the pantry, in addition to the one in the fridge.

“You’ve got all the basic food groups: fat, salt, and carbs.”

When we lived in NOLA, there was a columnist in the paper who was my morning laugh… Went on and on one day about the Louisiana food groups: fat, salt, sugar and alcohol. Any three of the four. Bloody Mary, check. Bananas Foster, check.

I’m with you on the mayonnaise gag reflex, dragonmom. I’ll throw away anything with mayo on it, even if I’m starving.

Decades ago I was in Costco, shopping with my roommate. She put this huge container of mayonnaise in the cart when I wasn’t looking, and laughed her ass off when I turned around and jumped three feet in horror!
