So what's your favorite "guilty pleasure"?

OMG, I thought I was the only person in the world who did this!!!

Also: Alphabet noodles with butter, cinnamon, and sugar.

VeryHappy, I think the butter/sugar stems back to something my mother made for us.

It’s GOOD. :)

My bf grills these giant hamburgers, which I eat on a pretzel bun with a TON of colby cheese, bacon, and lettuce, with extra crispy tater tots. I am allergic to dairy and it makes me horribly sick, but I eat it at least a few times every summer anyway. Can’t resist.

We also make something I affectionately call breakfast muffins, sometimes for breakfast but usually dinner, which is a toasted english muffin, buttered with dairy free butter, with a scrambled egg and bacon on it. BF also does cheese.

We eat well over a pound of bacon a week between us, could you guess? I’d eat a whole package in one sitting if I could do it without self loathing. We’re working on cutting back.

Chocolate chip cookie dough…large scoop in a bowl…tastes better than the baked cookies, probably because it seems like a forbidden treat.

Lomo saltado - a beef, tomato, and onion stew served over rice AND french fries! That and reading romance novels on my Kindle (no paperback cover to try to conceal).

abasket, my mother used to eat it for breakfast. I figure the sugar is just a substitute for jelly.

My mother used to do toasted bread with butter and cinnamon and sugar. Yum.

I love my kindle! Now no one knows the trashy novels I’m reading.

I got this from a restaurant I used to go to. Toasted English muffin, butter, brown sugar, cinnamon and almonds and broil until toasty. Yum!

Oh, well, if you want to talk about brown sugar . . . Yummmmmm!!

Why is it I can fess up to you all that I put white sugar on buttered white toast but I would never tell my husband of thirty years?

I don’t think I will ever again eat bread with butter and sugar without thinking of this thread!!!

Sort of like that thread a while back about eating a bagel in the grocery store before it’s been paid for.

My mom’s cinnamon toast was the best. When I try and make it doesn’t taste the same.
I have a whole board on Pinterest of guilty pleasure type recipes, mainly cream soup, tator tot casseroles varieties. One has crushed nacho Doritos on top. I’m waiting until my vegan dh goes out of town to try it out.

Was that from Le Peep? Great breakfast place - if it’s not from there, they had something just like it.
My guilty pleasure - a too-big portion of pasta eaten alone while watching TLC programming. Things my husband would never watch, like “The Little Couple” (I love them!), “Little People, Big World”, “Extreme Couponing” etc.

ditto cheap kindle romance novels
peanut butter and banana sandwiches
frozen yogurt
seeing movies in the theater instead of renting from the redbox

I have too many to count, mostly food-related:
Any chocolate Hostess product (I guess I can cross that off the list!)
Chocolate chip cookie dough in the plastic rolls (or sugar cookie dough as a substitute)
Kraft macaroni and cheese
Oreo cookie filling (the cookies, not so much)
Graham crackers with store-bought frosting
IHop blueberry syrup which I will eat directly from a spoon (I don’t really like it on anything)
Raw bread dough with melted butter and cinnamon-sugar
People is another vice (the only mag we still subscribe to, but how else would I know who all the young performers are now that my kids are out of the house?)

TLC shows are new to me, I am just now learning about Honey Boo and Amish little people that don’t know they are pregnant.

The secret to making cinnamon toast is to put the butter and cinnamon sugar on white bread, then run it under the broiler to toast. The bottom gets warm and soft and the top melts together. I like to get the sugar just to the point it carmelizes, but the timing is tricky. I’ve burnt many a batch.

4Boysmum, there is at least one decent Indian restaurant in Brunswick. That might knock half an hour off of your trip, depending where you are. (Or not, since in Maine, as we know, it is often the case that you can’t get there from here. ) Actually, there are two, but I’ve only been to one of them. That particular one is apparently going to open an Indian store on their second level. I am eagerly awaiting it. Right now, I go to a place on Rte 1 on the South Portland/Scarborough line. At that store, I can actually get fresh curry leaves. That’s unusual!

As a treat (?!) my mother used to make us brown sugar and butter (margarine, actually) sandwiches. On Wonder Bread. yeeesh…
