So, when do you start wearing spring clothing!

Spring and summer is on my mind, as I’ve been clothes shopping, basically supplementing holes in my current wardrobe.
As I am putting things away, I see my sweaters and tops in their pretty pastels and whites staring at me. All the fashion blogs are in spring and it gets me itching to wear mine. Some days its 58 here in the Midwest, the next day 42 and rainy.

Have you started wearing yours yet? I haven’t, but might start soon. Can’t wait to wear white jeans!

You can wear the white jeans now @conmama . As for the rest of it, I usually wait until the calendar officially says spring ( tomorrow!) and it’s a little warmer. But that varies on where you live. We’re expecting snow tomorrow and Wednesday!

It was 90 in Austin last Friday and tomorrow morning, it will be 47. We basically never get to “put away” seasonal clothes.

LOL–down south it’s spring clothing year round except when we’re in a closet scrounging for something warm to wear!

If it ever gets out of the 30’s and 40’s!

I had to wear my “good to -40 degrees” coat yesterday and today.

Well, it was 15 here this morning. Not quite time for spring clothes yet.

47 is spring in Maine.

Even in DC it’s supposed to snow on the first day of spring and Wednesday. I got to wear something short-sleeved on our 80 degree day in February, though. I’m hoping I can move spring/summer clothes to my tiny closet in early April, though.

“I had to wear my “good to -40 degrees” coat yesterday and today.”

When you’re down south–that jacket goes on below 60…
It’s no joke that your blood thins out…

In HI you can wear most clothing year-round: barefoot, slippers, sandals, shoes, even Uggs, plus coordinating outfits!

Where we live (AZ), there are no clothing seasons. We all wear the same things year round.

Nothing like those first spring days in NC when I was growing up and breaking out the new classic navy blue Keds. And the first really warm day `when Mom would say yes to shorts.

As always, I’ve been ahead of the curve in putting away the heavy woolen sweaters this year. Yet another snowstorm on the horizon midweek. I guess I’m just future oriented.

We’re looking at 2-6 inches of snow Wednesday, so not yet, lol.

I always take out the spring and summer clothes over Easter vacation, so that means in about a week and a half. I’ll keep some jeans and sweatshirts, but that’s when I have time to do the laundry that comes with changing over everyone’s wardrobes, so that’s when it gets done.

We just bought some “space saver bags” so we could store the cotton comforter as we are hoping we will now be having warmer weather for awhile. Of course that meant we needed to pull blankets from D’s room last night because for US it was “cold.” No idea what the actual temperature was but it FELT cold enough. I store my sweaters and other warm clothing that I mostly use for travel in space bags so that they don’t attract moths and other bugs. I found out the hard way that even though we don’t APPEAR to have moths, they find and still love our wool and other garments. :frowning:

The bags are so-so, but do help reduce the “mustiness” of things stored for extended time periods and do help reduce bugs and moths, so we do use them.

My closet has 4 sections: everyday clothes, special occasion clothes, business clothes, and clothes to take to HI. I dip into the “HI” section clothes in July - August.

Let the weather/temperature dictate what you wear not the calendar. If it’s 75 in March I’m going to wear a dress with bare legs. If it’s 35, I’m wearing tights.

I’m done with the true winter stuff - wool skirts and such. My choice! Tomorrow will be high thirties and sunny. To work I’ll wear a white/black printed athletic dress w/3/4 sleeves and a lightweight dark pink cardigan. Will still have my tights on. So it’s not full on winter, but not “warm” spring.

What’s wrong with a pastel sweater any time of year? (says the lady who doesn’t own a single pair of black pants…) Seriously, I don’t want to wear a pastel sweater when it’s 80 - wear the pastel sweater when the weather dictates the warmth!

It needs to be 65+ for me to wear spring clothes

I don’t pull the spring clothes out until the snow is completely and totally gone. We still have snow so it will be awhile.

Here’s a question - and I hope I’m not taking away from the thread (perhaps adding to it??)…what do you consider “Spring Clothes”??? Clearly different regions will think differently…but are you talking spring colors? Tank tops? White jeans? Open toed shoes?? What is your “spring clothing”???

(but I still stick to what I said earlier - let the weather/temp dictate what you’re comfortable wearing not the date!)

I don’t feel comfortable wearing white jeans until May, I don’t know why. I suppose I mostly focus on tops. A pastel long sleeve, lightweight worn with blue jeans and lighter colored footwear, even peep toe booties. Putting away the black clothing, grey clothing, heavier sweaters.

For instance, say it’s a nice 58 degrees and sunny. That feels warm in the Midwest right now, but definitely not hot…and it is still March. You are going out with your girlfriends in the evening. Do you opt for your winter skinny black jeans, black booties and a sweater or Jacket. Or do you break out the lighter tops and fabrics?

Spring to me are lighter weight clothing and colors. Or white. Peep toe booties. Pastel jeans.
