So You Think You Can Dance- 2011 Season! - Merged Threads

yes, I meant Melanie. I’m starting to act like my granny–getting all the kids’ names mixed up! I think Melissa was from a few seasons ago.

Oh, no! Alex Wong ruptured the Achilles tendon in his other leg! I was so hoping to see him as one of the allstars this season. Poor guy, I feel so bad for him. I’m happy that Chelsie Hightower is coming back as an allstar. She has always been one of my favorites. Also so glad that Cat was nominated for an Emmy – about time!

I don’t want to spoil the show for the west coast gang, but I will say that I think the judges made the right choice with the female elimination. I was disappointed at which male was sent home, though. I didn’t think his solo was as poor as Nigel said it was. It looked great to me!

He’s been my favorite guy from the beginning. He’s fabulous technically, and his partnering is really strong. But I’m afraid that he lacks the stage presence of, say, Jess.

Is it just me, or is something going on between Alexander and Sasha?

^Very affectionate towards one another. Made me a tad uncomfortable…

Love her on DWTS. Was she a SYTYCD contestant in a past year or something?

Without spoiling anything directly, I was pleased with both the boy and the girl who were dismissed tonight.

Devastating about Alex Wong, though. That’s just awful.

Yes, Chelsie was a previous contestant but I don’t remember which season. I bet they pair her with Jess because she’s short. LOL They will be a cute (dance) couple though.

Chelsie competed in season 4 and was in the top 6. That season Joshua was the winner, Twitch was the runner-up, and Katie placed third.

I loved Chelsie and Mark in “Bleeding Love” – [‪chelsea & mark bleeding love‬‏ - YouTube](<a href=“- YouTube”>- YouTube). I think Mark is a backup dancer with Lady Gaga nowadays.

Oh, man, “Bleeding Love” is one of my all-time favorites!! Thanks for the reminder.

I do hope they pair Jess and Chelsea up. He is so wonderful…and the only criticisms he really got pertained to his stature and how Nigel felt “uncomfortable” when he had to do lifts. I thought he did great! He is actually one of my favorites this year…

Where is BENJI from season 1 or 2 ?

^^^He’s actually been busier than I would have suspected:

I am not feeling the Ricky love. He has been the most uninteresting dancer since day 1. There was just something about Alexander which I loved. OMG yeeeeesss chelsie hightower

Having never been to one of the touring shows, what do they do about the missing folks. For instance, will they do the “Coming Home” dance with some other guy partnering Sasha?

On last year’s tour, they showed “Get Out of Your Mind” on a big screen. Of course, that was the dance of the summer and everyone was sure Alex would have been at or near the top had he stayed in, but they could do that with Coming Home. But they also did one or two of the Neil/Kent dances, with another guy dancing instead of Neil.

SO disappointed for Alex, not just because we won’t see him, but I wonder what this does to his dancing career.

I also like watching with my dancer D. Besides technique, she’ll point out things that are very very difficult that non-dancers may not appreciate.

Nigel mentioned 8 Emmy nominations for the show … did I hear that right? One for Kat, and what were the other ones for? Yes, Alex news was terrible … I worry for his long term health as a dancer; he is one of a kind.

@ Cat’s nomination – it’s about da*n time!

I believe most or all of the other awards were for choreography. They showed a package of 5 dances from past seasons (including Twilex, which got the biggest reaction from the audience). I think that the choreographers of those 5 numbers were nominated. That makes 6 – not sure about the other 2.

Reality competition (the whole show) and Reality competition host (Cat) were two non-choreography nominations. I thought they mentioned lighting also got one.

Ah, yes, I see now. 5 different choreographers were nominated, and the packages they put together for them included 4-5 dances each. Makes sense … so many of those dances are choreographed amazingly well, beyond Mia Michaels and Travis (cutie-pie) Wall. I would not want to be the one deciding Outstanding Choreography.

Can’t wait to see tonight’s show with the new partnerships and the addition of the all stars!
