I bought my D’s prom dresses at a thrift shop and she wasn’t even with me. I paid $25 each and she got so many compliments on the dresses.

Well, if my DD asks me if her butt looks big in a pair of pants, she expects me to answer honestly. Like I said, she is far from the fragile flower everyone is making her out to be and “cowering” to her mother…

Sorry, if I sidetracked the thread a bit but I am dealing with my overbearing mother at the moment and she is in her 80’s.

I actually liked post #2 saying that she liked the style but didn’t care for the fabric and suggest she should keep on looking.

Sorry to hear your difficulties with your mother, shyanne. Overbearing parents can be a PITA

shyanne–been there, done that, mom lost out on a relationship with her grandchildren as a result…hang in there.

When dresses are just hanging in the closet, look for a place that collects then gives away prom dresses for girls that can’t afford them, like princess project…no need for dresses just to sit there. But do keep one aside for college, the most classic timeless one for the balls etc.

Tink about donating your dresses, it can make a young woman really happy.

I am hanging in there. Thanks.

Oh, now I understand. Those of us whose daughters don’t agree with our opinions do NOT have lovely teen daughters. Glad we straightened that out.
