Something You’re Looking Forward To In 2024

Not a resolution thread.

I sort of dislike the “new year” - I always feel a little tentative, “what will the new year bring good or otherwise?” I don’t think I like crystal balls!

BUT, keeping things positive, what is something you are looking forward to in 2024. A wedding. A retirement. A new car. A new hobby. A trip. A renovation. A visit from someone.

It can be big or small. A object or an event. It might happen in January or maybe not until December.

What is something you are looking forward to in 2024???

My response(s):

April wedding of D1.
Borscht class in January.
Spring and discovering the now hidden perennials in our new yard.
Possible (probable?) full time retirement in Fall 2024. Possible new adventure part time.
First board member position and opportunity to learn new things.

That’s a start. :+1:

A new house. Clearing and foundation work should begin in March, and in May, a mobile crane will drive up the gravel driveway, set up its supporting feet, and await the arrival of my modular home. Two sections for my little house, 2 larger sections for DD and her family’s house, and several panels for the shared garage! We are building the multigenerational compound we wanted!

H and I are going on a tour to Okinawa with a couple we like and socialize with plus others we know and like—hopefully my sis and BIL will also be coming. It should be a fun time. orientation breakfast is less than a week away.

We’re taking a trip to visit family in Europe this Spring. I haven’t seen them in years and am so excited! It will also be the first time my D meets this part of the family and sees where my dad grew up.

We are also doing the very last of our home improvement projects. Can’t wait for the house to be finally done done!

The election season… really brings the country together.

Looking forward to visiting our son which we do each year in the spring.

Hoping that this year is finally the year for my Hawaiian island cruise which supposedly was my Christmas present in 2019!

2023 was a hard year for my family, especially my son. We’ve all had to deal with the consequences of his actions.

Tomorrow marks a transition for him and for the rest of us.

I am hoping that this transition is a good thing, that he has learned, grown, and matured and moves forward during 2024.

Oh yes, more cuddles from baby grand niece when I am watching her, so nanny has a break. She’s so smiley and adorable! I love older grand niece too (different niece is mom), but she’s older and more interested in learning to walk. She goes to daycare.

We are doing a fair amount of travel.
We start with a month in New Zealand in February, including 2 weeks of bicycling, in December we will be in the Caribbean for at least a week, and we have 2 US trips planned.

DH retiring from teaching! And hopefully will start a new easier job.

Perhaps (should be) an announcement from older S this spring

30 year anniversary in June

30 year anniversary trip to Europe that can be postponed to September/off season because we don’t have to do everything during summer/xmas breaks! (See First Point!)

Participating in more online video chats in German. I did one this month and then holiday travels made me miss the rest.

Improving my French, though german is still more important to me at this point in time.

Beginning a new 12 week workout program January 1. I’m excited about this one.

As of January 1, I will have no more dependents on any insurance!
