Cannot decided , is Exeter a fend for your self school or do they have support for 9th graders. They are still kids and am bit worried about the size of Exeter. Any input would be helpful. thanks
Decisions are due today. Both schools are difficult and expect students to have great study skills.
Most competitive BS are somewhat fend for your self, sink or swim, learn on the job, college prep in the truest meaning of the words…Lawrenceville is not going To be much different. Describe your kid…
That is not my take on Exeter by the way.
@dad14 which school is closer to home?
He is outgoing but in mild manner. He is still a kid who sometimes does chores at home and sometimes not.
Lawerenceville is closer
Is Exeter big? Relative to what? It sounds like you have a small day school as your baseline? Why did you apply in the first place then? Lawrenceville is not that small either. And why are you asking now? Have you been pulled up from wait lists of both schools??
Did not understand by comment “That is not my take on Exeter” . Some schools provide two advisors per student. I do not know if Exeter does that.
thanks for the comments. The decision has to be made today.
@dad14 two advisers per kid seems like hand holding. Exeter has multiple points of contact and support. Sound like you and/or your kid isn’t ready to be honest.
Choose the closer and smaller one maybe. Without much more input about your preferences and the kid’s profile, I don’t think anyone can give you any substantial advice. and in this particular situation, I actually agree with a poster that others opinions “don’t matter one iota”. Just go with your gut feeling
What I’d also suggest is to use the search bar at the top of the page, and search for “Exeter” and “Lawrenceville”. You can see what others have asked/answered. Let us know (if you want to) which school you pick!
