Sorbonne Université vs McGill University vs Université de Montréal

Which university would be the best for me if I want to study french literature and linguistics to become a french teacher in Canada ?

Where in Canada do you want to teach? Do you want to teach the French language, or teach French Lit, etc. at a French school?

Ether McGill or UdeM. McGill will have more power throughout Canada. You need an excellent level though (above AP).

You need to be fluent in French prior to enrolling, even at McGill. It would be a hassle to get a teaching certificate in Canada with a degree earned in France.

@TomSrOfBoston: Are you sure about McGill ? Or is fluency required just for some majors & programs ?

@Publisher The French department at McGill operates like a French department at a francophone university. You need to be fluent by U1 year at the latest.

Thanks. I know that the law school requires French proficiency as does the medical school.

@Publisher unless something has changed, McGill medicine does not require any French. Wife is a grad. To practice medicine in Quebec(post McGill) you do need to take both written and oral tests in French(about Medicine, not the French language), but that is nothing to do with McGill, and everything to do with the Quebec government.

I believe that the Law school is the same.

@57special: I got my information from the McGill website. Although I am relying on McGill’s website for information regarding medical school, I am near certain that the law school requires French proficiency.
