So, how does it look?
(All recommendations/essays should be very good. Got my english teachers to read all my essays and my Calculus Teacher this year wrote me a 3 page rec. My physics teacher also wrote me a well-written rec)

your SAT II chemistry score could potentially hurt you and i would say not putting the AP score for you Comp exam is not a bad thing, a two would have looked pretty bad, other than that your rank/ecs/and awards look really strong…and i think it helps that you are egyptian

i think you have a decent chance, especially since you are applying ED
:)

Yah, I figured the chemistry would bring me down =(. The CR is also pretty bad, but my highest CR score is a 670 if they take the highest ones and combine them. Any other opinions? Oh ya, and I also live in Texas if that makes any difference?

But my Extracurriculars are very few. Only looks like a lot because I explained them. How badly will that hurt me. (Or maybe it only looks bad because I’m being pessimistic?) Be brutally honest please =)

GRADE INFLATION ALERT,
your low test scores and high GPA scream that to me.

In addition, take out all of the Honors societies and individual service projects, and academic clubs you have done unless you won a prestigious award (mu club doesnt count). Then after you have done that, evaluate what you have done with continuity, IE, not just awards or one time events.

If you still see some serious FOCUSED weight in your ECs, then maybe…

Also, I do not see any AP science classes like Chem, bio or phys. If your school does not offer them than fine, but if they do I would have taken them if I were you and your SAT II Chem might be a nail in the coffin for the CoE depending on how the weight SAT IIs.

Gah! I just realized that I forgot to list the medals that I won from swimming =( Oh well…

I’m taking the AP Tests this year, but not soon enough to place them on my app.
They have my transcript so they should see the courses that I’m taking
Also, for the sake of privacy I’m not putting down my school but it should be well-known (I hope)

Again like I said be brutally honest. It only helps =)

So after all the info, do I go up to 50% chance? =P

Edit: I’m going to list all my AP Classes up just in case

AP Computer Science I A
AP Computer Science II AB
AP English III
AP English IV
AP Gov./Economics
AP U.S. History
AP Physics
AP Chemistry
AP Calculus BC

Yup these are all of them of my Junior and Senior (Current) year

its still about the same, those things might change, but the best you can do at a chance is approximate the value someones credentials to about +/- 25%. Good luck, pray to the adcom gods for mercy.

I am doing that for myself too. If you wanna look at my thread, its on page 2 called CoE chance

Cool. Thanks for your honesty. I prefer the “to the point” responses. Too much optimism actually worries me lol. (I just wish I was better at standardized testing. I’m 800 material for math, but I froze. Chemistry just massacred me since I froze up completely =( )

Your Class rank and GPA are fine. Your SAT (minus writing) which is what they look at, is actually a little lacking. 600’s are hard to cut it, even if it is in reading.

Your Math II score is also slightly lacking, although not a complete weed out.

Your extracurriculars are not very focused or committed. MAO, wrestling team, and spanish club were all only for one year? No leadership positions?

Your course load is good. However the 2 on AP Calc makes me wonder about your ability to handle a rigorous math/science courseload. Almost everyone in Math 1910 (fall freshmen engineering calculus) got a 5 on AP Calc AB.

Your race and ED should help significantly. I would say your chances are okay (40%ish?).

You misunderstood me. I got a 2 on AP Comp. Sci II AB which I didn’t even list. Oh god, if I got a 2 on Calculus, my Calculus teacher would be very upset lol. I have like a 95 average in AP Calc. BC. Really isn’t too bad of a class. Just need to get those trig. identities down solid.

Also leadership positions in my school are all popularity contests, which are annoying >.< The one time it was the teacher’s choice to pick a leader (i.e. my neighborhood swim team) I was chosen. But ya, that will definitely hurt. Also, I was at a different school for those EC. It’s different at my new school, which is annoying also >.< Anyways keep it coming please =)

actually, your race wont help at all because north african equals white, even if you consider yourself something else. The only races that really help in college admissions are hispanic, black, and native american.

dude you dont have a 5.43 cumulative. Having 3 aps last year, even straight A’s could not have gottne you that high . if you cant even get your gpa right, what chance do you have at cornell.
