Hello all,
I applied ED to Barnard College and was deferred, but felt as though I had a good chance of being admitted from the deferred pool, seeing as I was accepted into their fly-out program/had a successful on-campus interview. After being deferred, I applied to other schools like Vassar, Oberlin, and Brown. However, mental health and familial issues steered me away from my usual academic success and I ended up with an F in A.P Music Theory. The lowest grade I have gotten in all of high school was one B my first semester of freshman year, and have a current unweighted GPA of 3.9/ACT of 30. I have taken 5 A.P/Honors courses not including A.P Music, and have received all A’s in those classes. This is a very unusual occurrence in my academic performance, and I am not sure how this will affect my admission into these colleges, especially Barnard taking me after deferring me. I want to see if my principal will be able to expunge this from my transcript.
(I plan on majoring in political science/international relations, and don’t even bother asking why I took A.P Music Theory because I do not know either)
- Have you talked to your GC about your mental health/family issues?
- Can you talk to them about being able to make up work in AP Music Theory?
- It was probably good that you spent your time on the core classes
- Can you withdraw from the class?
