Housing is only randomly assigned if students aren’t able to find someone through the roommate match system.
Housing for first years is guaranteed. You haven’t missed any boat.

When does RD usually come out?
Their website says mid March.
Anyone with knowledge about the Destination SMU events and whether they warrant a trip in? We’ve toured and are familiar with the campus, and trying to balance another trip unless others have positive feedback from previous experience.
Asked admission officer same question in an email, no response.
Destination SMU is a good event. You can visit a couple classes, get department tours, do breakout sessions on financial aid, etc. if you feel that you’ve already got a solid sense for the campus, you can skip it and do your own research.

I believe it was around March 15 or 18 last year but aren’t they on spring break next week March 11-15?
Does any one know if SMU had a large application year or if it was less this year?
Not sure, but if their sister institution to their west is a guidepost then probably not. I think TCU had more EA/ED1 then in previous years, but less EDII/RD, and their application amount turned out to be roughly the same as last year (around 21,000), if Frogfans numbers are correct, which I believe they are as they have been pretty much spot on.
Is there somewhere to look for application totals? I just heard possible of lower GPA’s may get in RD.
If you do a good search for “SMU office of institutional research” you should be able to locate the historical admissions numbers. When a looked a few months ago it was updated for Fall 2023 data only, but I would tell you that applications have stayed roughly the same based on my memory. Up or down by 1,000-1,500 give or take depending on the year.
My daughter and I thought it was great. This was not her first choice prior to attending and now she is really considering it!
