I believe they extended last year and the year before as well. I don’t know why. Could be applications are down? Who knows? Looks like they had 16,150 applications for fall 2022 and 15,075 for fall of 2023. I wonder if applications are down further this year which would be opposite the trend?

I called and they did say it would be this week, but obviously not I guess. I have called SMU admissions with questions before and have got conflicting info on email vs. via phone. They seem a bit disorganized at SMU.

Has anyone else noticed that shortly after you applied you got personalized emails thanking for the application, selling SMU, and so on, but they just dried up after the first two weeks? Also a snail mail hard copy saying your application is complete? We received two very nice emails (which were most certainly form/standardized emails) and a mailing and then nothing since then. No happy holidays, questions to admissions counselors go unanswered, etc. I remember a year ago people were saying they received postcards in the mail. Do you think they stop communication with those that they are not going to accept? Trying not to read much into this but my gut feeling is telling me to expect bad news when they announce this week. Hopefully I’m reading too much into it.

Yeah, don’t read to much into it. They are probably to busy reviewing apps to send out all the emails and stuff.
I think we are all in the same boat. However, the lack of communication and especially not responding is concerning. Not knowing a lot about colleges I judge them based on all I know, my interaction with admissions…

This sounds like Clemson’s “buttongate” from last week. I don’t see a report new ACT/SAT button, but I don’t really remember ever noticing it either.
LOL. That was the most entertaining thread. Let’s not go down that path again although that was the most fun I’ve had reading in a while. How pathetic is that? For what it’s worth, my daughter’s SAT/ACT button was removed we noticed on Thursday evening.
I would assume if you still have it, you were defered and if you don’t have it you were accepted or rejected. But I don’t know for sure.
