I graduated from SMU in 2020, so I’m an old timer now . But I don’t think merit impacts need based.

I think I forgot to mention my daughter’s stats:

GPA: 93.3/100 UW, 94.5/100 W (no clue how that translates to SMU’s scale but her counselor said that is probably 3.7-3.8 UW and 4.1 W based on our grading scale, so take with a grain of salt)
EC: Captain of Basketball team, Internship, Teaching Assistant, tons of volunteer hours

Did not receive merit. Not sure if that door is closed on us or if they adjust as people decline/accept?

Waiting on Cox decision.

Test Optional, 4.0/4.0 Unweighted GPA, completing 30 credit hours as a HS student through dual enrollment at local university, Top 1% of class.

NHS, Senior Class President (4 years StuCo), Eagle Scout, Varsity sport captain and academic state champion, co-founder of student org (2 yrs), FCA student leader (2 yrs), Boys’ State, multiple additional leadership camps, school ambassador (3 yrs), key club member (3 yrs), and a handful of leadership/character awards awarded by the school and outside organizations.

Strong letters of rec from his principal, student council advisor, as well as another member of the community.

Visited campus twice and interacted with his AO throughout the admissions process.

Awarded second century scholarship.

Thank you, and sure— 1560 superscore; 3.97 unw on 4.0 scale w almost highest possible rigor (very competitive NY suburb school that does not rank or weight grades); pres Chemistry Club and co-pres Book Club; Co-Editor of school’s science newspaper; varsity cheer; co-runs school a cappella group; honors society (tutoring); chorus leadership, vocal area all state, dance, etc. Applied to Cox as an economics major

Anyone here know if merit scholarships ever come out after the admissions letter? My dd is a recruited athlete for SMU with 3.75 unweighted, 4.0 weighted GPA, dual sport athlete, lots of extracurriculars, leadership and substantial volunteer work every Summer of 30 hours per week for 6 weeks for the last 5 years. 7 AP’s and some IB classes. We completed the net price calculator more than 5 times with lower GPA to allow for a variance and it always returned with a second century scholar. Applied ED and was admitted to Cox. Any insight on potential merit funds appreciated. Thanks!

They did come in the letter if recived.

I believe that scholarship money is sometimes offered after admission. Last year, some kids got scholarships as late as April.

Economics is in Dedman. Did she apply for Cox or Dedman?

She definitely applied to Cox w an app that made sense for Cox. She applied to 8 schools, so I don’t remember the strategy that she used for each school. If they don’t have econ, she would’ve done business or consulting or whatever fit. She’s interested in all of it
