Thank you so much for that information - that is a helpful data point for the nerves!
Looks like last year EA decisions dropped on Monday 12/18⊠Does anyone have any solid intel suggesting that this yearâs EA decisions will be released this week?
Does the decision letter entail scholarships? Iâm hoping for a few. (didnât mean to reply to you, I donât know how to delete replies)
Based on last years thread, yes, merit scholarships are released with decisions.
If you apply ED, you shouldnât expect merit.
I reached out to SMU admissions office.
They said theyâre still working through the applications and should come out with EA decisions sometime this month. No date promised.
âSometime this monthâ isnât super helpful.
Exactly, in fact much worse than âmid-Decâ originally promised
Isnât there Direct Admit for SMU?
No. Smu does not have direct admissions. You have to apply and go through a holistic process to be admitted.
Thatâs not necessarily true. If a kid has really good stats, I think they are still considered for merit.
So I am confused on the Direct Admit item - on the common app I know a few candidates that got a Direct Admission notification. It said they had to apply and and a few things had to be checked so not sure what that feature is/does.
I think that SMU may be part of the Common App Direct Admissions program which is specifically for first generation and low and middle income applicants.
That certainly wasnât an option for my child.
I do not know what triggered it - we were already planning to apply, had visited etc and it was there. another child we know had it but others didnât.
i take nothing for granted so basically have treated it mentally as it is not real - but still curious
When did they say this?
Today.
Do expect EA decisions today?
Very unlikely, but Iâd be pleasantly surprised if they do.
Iâd expect sometime end of next week at best.
