yeah the sub 40%is fascinating. we submitted a 32 shrug
The anxiety got to us last night so my daughter emailed her counselor to ensure to confirm she is test optional so that the lack of received scores would not hold up her decision. My guess is that the decision has already been made, but figured it would not hurt and maybe would lessen the anxiety lol.
Iâd rather be patient for a real decision than get yet another deferral into RD like some of these other schools are doing (which I canât stand!). Sort of defeats the entire purpose of early action.
Hopefully that wonât happen! I agree deferrals are awful.
Agreed, itâs borderline unethical to defer a large section of applicants when you promise an early action.
At least they should be transparent that apply EA only if you have a hook or youâre super high stats (and wonât join us anyways) or super low stats (so we can reject you).
Yes! And the anxiety and self-doubt that result from EA deferrals, especially in those kids who have strong stats and will likely get in during RD, is devastating. Thankfully, we were able to look at some past yearâs data and knew ahead of time that a deferral was likely (i.e., UGA) but it still caused unnecessary disappointment. I get that schools want the top of the top, but thereâs something to be said for kids who have their act together and apply early action. I know Iâm preaching to the choir. sigh I feel different about SMU and it really seems that they value their EA applicants. Hope they stay true to that model!
Agreed 100%. I can write a thousand word essay disparaging how AOs take deserving kids for a ride⊠the oneâs whoâre most likely to accept their offers⊠but Iâll spare everyone getting more frustrated than they already areâŠ
btw, Iâm just waiting for someone on this thread to scream⊠DECISIONS ARE OUT⊠lol
Completely agree with all the comments!
I will co-authorâŠafter our kids submit their deposits of course.
My sons portal just lost the ability to update or send test scores.
Mine too
Same. I recall reading this on last yearâs thread but donât recall the timing of it all. I need to go back and check.
Ok looked at last yearâs thread. Itâs hard to decipher without time stamps but it looks to possibly be the same day. Yikes!
You can click on the date and it will show the timestamp in your own timezone.
Well thank you for teaching me something new. So last year, there were first reports of the buttons being removed on December 18th around 10am. Then emails were received to check their portal a couple of hours later. Decisions were in the portal at 7pm.
Woohoo⊠so decisions are imminent today⊠thank you so much for checking⊠I was too lazy to do this tedious work⊠lolâŠ
Wishing everyone the very best for decisions today⊠may all our great kids get acceptance
Best of luck to all our kids (and hopefully today!)!
My daughterâs portal still has the ACT/SAT score option active. Hopefully thatâs not an early sign of a deferral!!
Iâll give some benefit of doubt to the batch updates.
Please stay hopeful.
This portal astrology has major downsides.
My sonâs portal still has the ACT/SAT score option active. Did your daughter apply to Cox? My son did.
