In SMUâs defense, theyâre probably one of the fastest with decisions roll out.
They can do better on communicating a decision date at least a week out.
Mid-December, sometime-this-month just leads to a lot of anxiety and consumes you.
My daughter is on some SMU student/potential future student social media page (??) and heard EA release is 7pm EST tonight. Not sure if this is accurate!
Itâs true! And I know that even if they do/did tell us when they were releasing, Iâd be secretly hoping that it would come earlier. The waiting is so hard! (and thatâs just a parentâs perspective - really feeling for all these kids)
Anyone have the early action 2024 stats? They have details on their early action stats on the 2023 common data set, but I havenât been able to find their 2024 early action stats. The 2023 stats are pretty interesting. Trying to pass the time hereâŠlol
Yes, the Cox decision will come after the SMU admit. They do not come together.
Any portal astrology signs/symbols that curious folks are tracking?
I would rather know this week versus some colleges on my DDâs list that state April 1st. Seriously. April foolâs day!! I feel like a fool for waiting that long!
Portal looks the same as yesterdayâs change. Curious if those who didnât see a change saw one today?
Seriously, itâs crazy.
Unless itâs a school theyâd give a leg and arm for, most bright kids wouldâve make up their mind much before this date.
I have special dislike for schools that market super early action dates to allow kids time to make decisions, only to defer them for March/April decisions. They are worse than these April Fool schools.
My eldest had an April Foolâs acceptance to a T20. It was painful to wait, but none of the schools at the time had early action. Early action seems to be on the rise. With my youngest, we were excited at the idea of finding out earlier to make plans. But with two deferrals already in the EA pool, it has become a huge disappointment. Counting on SMU, my daughterâs #1, to change our opinion of EA!
Weâve had success on 4/6 EAs so far.
The other 2 are notorious for deferring a large section of kids to RD pool (something we learned later through past year threads). Hopefully SMU isnât in the latter category.
Congrats on the 4! We expected deferrals on our two given the prior year stats, which I agree was helpful to know in advance as opposed to facing huge disappointment. Based on SMUâs prior year stats, it does not look like they are in the mass deferral camp so I am also hoping to proves true this year.
Was Clemson one of the two schools with a deferral?
Mine was deferred from Notre Dame last night. Not unexpected, in fact we expected a rejection.
But a win would be nice! Weâre waiting on SMU, Elon, and Gonzaga to come out this week. SMU is number one.
Bingo!
I only learned today that Cox decisions are rolled out later after ~2 weeks (ignorant of me).
So even though weâd see SMU decision today(hopefully?), it would be another excruciating wait for 2 weeks.
Incremental happiness, sure! But at least for us, SMU is a non-starter if D25 doesnât get Cox direct admit - itâs nearly impossible to transfer into Cox in the sophomore/junior year.
That is my understanding. I think Cox EA has always been before Christmas though? Someone else can correct me if I am wrong. At this point, I am not sure a decision today is likely. No email yet. Maybe tomorrow is the day. Hope I donât say the same thing tomorrow.
the elusive âtomorrowâ never dies! sigh!
Iâve seen three different people on Reddit (I know) say admissions told them the 21st.
