Specialty Food/Other Holiday Items (TJ's, Costco, Whole Foods, etc.)

Holidays…it’s all that’s on our minds…

The un-grocery stores have some really great holiday items - some very reasonable. Thought it might be fun to share what you can’t pass by, good deals, worth getting items.

The coffee option at my workplace is a Keurig. I often just bring my own coffee and use a refillable cup. But TJ’s has a great Keurig friendly holiday sampler - $9.99 for 20 cups - 4 of each of 5 flavors - including gingerbread, caramel, chocolate mint, french vanilla and wintry blend. Attractive package and graphics - would even make a nice gift for a friend! Also, not sure but the k-cup looks to be recyclable friendly.

My girls also love the 3 pack TJ’s tube hand lotion.

At Costco I like to buy a container of their bakery area peppermint bark to add to homemade cookie plates I make for people. One 12.99 container goes a long way to help make those plates look nice and delicious!

We chop up some of the Costco peppermint bark and add it to the Tollhouse cookie recipe in place of the regular chocolate chips. Tried it several years ago, and have had requests to make some every year since.

Trader Joe’s has a maple syrup set and a honey set this year that look good.

TJ’s has probably come out with the evil Candy Cane JoJo’s by now. I better stay away!

TJ’s has truffle butter. I’m afraid to buy it because I’ll probably love it.

At TJ’s, even better than the Candy Cane Joe Joe’s are the chocolate covered ones! So decadent. I wish they still had the giant chocolate bar from two or three years ago that had ginger, nuts and dried cranberries in it. It was so yummy and I was sad that they discontinued it.

Oh, you must mean the Dark Chocolate Covered Peppermint Joe Joe’s! They sell out quickly; I picked up three boxes right after Thanksgiving. Sooooo decadent.

I don’t care for candy and other sweets, but I love the seasonal fruit and chestnuts! Yum.

What’s a Joe Joe?!

Trader Joe’s oreo knockoff.

Oh! Thank you.

The candy cane jojos have crushed candy canes mixed in with the filling and it goes so well with the dark chocolate cookie parts!

I think they had some sort of pumpkin spice jojos in the fall but I averted my eyes…

Costco has some thin biscotti that is wrapped in 3 per pack, 23 portions bags per box with cranberries and almonds—yummy!

Sam’s has smoked salmon—makes an attractive gift.

The thin biscotti is a regular staple are our Costcos year around. They are almost more like a cracker.

I am curious about the Chocolate Chip Panettone. for $4.49

The dark chocolate orange for $2.99

The Walker’s Shortbread for $7.99

@raclut TJ’s dark chocolate oranges are a stocking staple at our house! Walkers shortbread is ok for a store bought variety. Haven’t tried the panettone.

I also like the Dark Chocolate Stars (chocolate covered shortbread cookies).

The chocolate panettone is a bit different from a regular panettone. No candied fruit, not soft and eggy - more texture, a liquor taste (to me, anyway. Don’t have the box to check ingredients), dark chocolate chips.
It makes a nice breakfast or snack with a cup of coffee or tea.

Onion/garlic jam - Great on sandwiches.
Bacon jam - ditto
They have a few frozen appetizers that only show up at the holidays - the mini baked Brie landed in my cart. Also a large creme brûlée
Butter puff pastry - quickie apps or dessert base

Frozen macaroons & regular Pantone at Costco

It is a tradition in our family. It’s not Christmas until the Trader Joe’s dark chocolate covered Joe Joes with crushed peppermint are in the house!! I buy at least 10 boxes because I am worried they will run out. I ship them to friends that have relocated to Honolulu because they don’t have a Trader Joes
