Well I’m in trouble because so far I want the Patagonia jacket that @cbreeze put back and the Athleta dress that @thumper put back!
Also I am on high alert because Athleta has an extra 20% off their sale items - but I do have lots of Athleta $$$ from my Gap card available to use so I guess if I purchase it isn’t going to cost me any money!
Well, we really need a microwave because we use it constantly, even for warming up coffee that’s been sitting for awhile. So I went online and found a cheap RCA model that gets good reviews. $56 from Walmart, including a 2-year protection plan. And shipping is free! So I am thankful for this thread - otherwise I probably would have sprung for the $250 oven!
I did purchase from Athleta. But I did use my rewards $$$ so only spent a total of $11 on a pair of New Balance everyday shoes, a pair of running shorts (4.5 inch inseam which is hard to find!) and a headband. All which will get used a million times!
I largely only order from Athleta when they have these “extra 20% off” sales - which is usually only on holiday weekends - and the next one of those isn’t until Memorial Day!
@abasket, you tempted me… but I didn’t succumb
I have 100 bucks for a sweater I returned that I got for Christmas. I kind of liked it, but not 100 bucks worth. It’s now on sale for less than 60, but I didn’t get it. Yeah me!
Other than my one slip up of $17, I’ve not done any other “mindless spending”. I was thinking about how great it would be to see a really low credit card bill. Then the renewal of our theater season tickets came up – we go with 3 other couples so it’s 8 tickets and I’m the organizer. So, of course I’ll be reimbursed but it is a BIG number. Then, because we renewed, we were entitled to pre-order Hamilton tickets. Of course all 8 wanted tickets so there’s another BIG number. We took D1, her bf and another couple out for dinner for D’s bday (she asked for a steak house so not inconsequential) and then two other friends had birthdays this week so more meals out. Ironically, I’ll do next to no “mindless spending” but my cc bill is going to be larger than most any other month.
^^^But you know (and I really mean this) - look, you are LIVING LIFE. Not through just another sweater or pair of shoes or a 10th pair of black pants - you are enjoying time with important people in your life, celebrating friendship and family - not to be corny, but really what better place/ways to spend your $$?!
I was trying to think of gift for the secretary who works for my brother and also receives my mail. I gave her one of the oil painting kits I bought from Costco and she seemed intrigued. (I had been planning for H and I to each have our own kit but decided we could share one kit and gift secretary the extra kit). I also took her to a nice lunch and heard about her European summer travel plans. We had a great time and she seemed pleased.
The restaurant was less expensive than we had expected and it was very nice and quiet with excellent service. The kits were only $22 when purchased in January but I just learned that WalMart has a large supply of inexpensive art supplies, so figure we can buy anything we need and can share the one kit.
I also got a ride to the airport from a friend instead of a taxi, Uber, Lyft or very reluctant sister. We will take her to lunch en route to the airport as our thanks. She’s a sweetheart and more reliable than reluctant sister. The lunch for all three of us will be much cheaper than a hired ride and more fun!
Mister is hanging his brainy TV on the wall in the kitchen. Sigh. I had faint hopes that it was broken because the remote would not work, but apparently the sensor was covered with something. So the TV stays. Now thanks to this TV and stupid Sling I will have to watch Cramer’s ugly head yakking up some stocks every weekday morning. Ugh. Rant over.
