Sport with the smartest athletes?

What do you guys think is the sport with the smartest athletes? At my school, the long-distance runners tend to be the smartest. I wonder if there’s some sort of study that proves this.

I remember reading, somewhere, that swimmers, gymnasts, tennis players, and golfers are the smartest.

Roflmao “proves this”. Prove what? There is no causation thing going on here. It will merely show a correlation, if there is one.

LOL

lets make an list of athletes with their SAT scores + GPA’s

ill start off

junior
long distance runner
SAT - 2250 (1st time)
GPA - 3.87/4.56

in my school, it’s the long-distance runners, as well. hm, weird :stuck_out_tongue: next would be swimmers & tennis players. gymnasts…that’s lolful.

football tackle
GPA 4.0/4.0
SAT 2400
ACT 36

Nice username NJSoccer.

^Lol .

My school, for whatever pathetic reason, actually calculates the GPA’s of the sports teams. XC has been #1 for as long as I can remember.

At my school, it’s definitely men’s tennis.

Yea, it seems like it’s probably XC for us

Endurance sports or sports that need a lot of money. Endurance sports require willpower and if you have the willpower to run/swim/bike far, then you probably have the focus and willpower to get through your homework. At my school, XC runners have probably been one of the most successful teams.

People who play sports like golf, polo, tennis, fencing, etc. that need lots of money are probably better academically simply because of the correlation between academic success and money.

Probably swimming at my school. It’s pretty expensive, or so my friend tells me.

At my old school, it was track.

Tennis, but that’s because they don’t have as many athletes. Not to mention the fact that both the valedictorian and salutatorian are both on the team lol.

Track comes in a close second, though. And we won states last season. So go us.

Tennis/track.

Tennis! :D

Im not sure what it is at my school probably XC and Tennis, but my coach (who used to be a bio teacher) said that in a test on mice they found that running produces more brain cells or something like that, but will power and endurance probably have something to do with it to.

At my school, it’s generally volleyball, tennis, and swimming.

Definitely Track and Field at my school.
