I don’t see how it could be more expensive, equipment wise, than contact sports like football or hockey where you need lots of pads, helmet, etc.
For swimming you need goggles, a swimsuit and…that’s it…right?</p>

Building and maintaining a swimming pool is expensive. Going to a Country Club for golf is expensive. etc.</p>

The reason you think this is because we are crazy about a sport that most Americans have never even heard of - Cricket.</p>
<p>At my school it was tennis and cross country.
One of our valedictorians played tennis and the other one ran cross country.</p>
