Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition: the first plus-sized cover model

^^^^

That’s a great interview with Venus Williams. Her beauty really shines through in so many ways - she seems very at peace with herself.

Why not just attack their sad attempt at staying relevant? That’s what struck me. She was an out-of-touch former model from 40 years ago. Her looks were irrelevant because I thought she was probably 70-something years old. And yes, she probably did have work done in the even sadder attempt to stay young looking because heaven forbid a woman actually looks her age.

I’m not saying to let yourself go, although I’m no fashionista by any sense of the word, but I would hate to be someone formerly known for her/his looks. They don’t seem to be given the freedom to age.

Here’s another link–people with same weight but different heights and sizes.

Sorry Cheryl Tiegs opened herself up to criticism when she decided to publicly opine about Ashley.

Yes, people in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones, etc., but I think the discussion could be had WITHOUT any snipes about the appearance of the commenter. People, especially young women are judged WAY too much on appearance. We would have a lot healthier society if people honestly had a wider frame of beauty, health and attractiveness rather than hourglass and anorexic ideals only. There are millions of people on the planet and LOTS of different kinds of healthy, attractive folks. To me, that is the important thing that we need to remind our loved ones of, especially if they don’t fit the “traditional” form of beauty or attractiveness. Too many have done awful things to themselves in the name of “beauty.”

PG–not trying to “elevate” a body type–just saying it’s one of the many variables that changes your accuracy in calling over weight “unhealthy.” (I’m not sure what you mean by weight gain as “meaningless” or not).

Personally, I have no issue with “elevating” a certain body type so long as it relates to my own personal aspirations. I don’t hit the gym 5 plus times a week because I have nothing better to do. I put that effort in because I want to maintain my weight and current “body type” as I head into my 50’s. I feel and look better when I work out consistently. The gym is also my first line of defense against stress and anything else that might be bothering me.
