3.87 GPA, like 72 hours completed (a lot of preparation in the sciences and math – I’m talking like Calc 1 - 3, Linear Algebra, taking now Discrete Math and Statistics; Biology, Physics Mechanics).

I had no recommendation letters, sort of OK extracurriculars, and pretty good essays I think.

I got accepted to CNS with my first choice major, Biology with a 3.87 GPA! Congrats to everyone else who got in and I hope to see you guys there next month!

Also, about 59 credits, no extracurriculars in college (did some in high school overseas), applied with calc 1 in progress, no LORS and decent essays I guess (i half assed them tbh lol)

Congrats to anyone that just got accepted! I’ve been following this post for about a month now and I’m sure we’re all tired of waiting by now. I’m glad to know that for at least some of us, that wait is over.

On another note, has anyone been accepted to Computer Science at CNS? It seems that they’ve finally decided to send some but none of them are CS so far.

Ugh okay, so I applied for English even though I really want to major in Film and I just realized that I need 60 credits at UT before I can internally transfer. If they accept me for Spring can I change my major when I get there or do I really have to wait that long? If I have to have the 60 credits first then I might just stick with English…

I’m not an expert on anything @Kyotoraz, but if all you need is an extra pair of eyes or an opinion then I can weigh in. Also, how many people are STILL waiting to hear? I feel like a lot of people finally got their decisions yesterday.

I talked to the nicest lady in admissions for about 20 mins yesterday. She told me decisions are taking much longer this semester because they no longer base decisions strictly on GPA anymore… now they accept people who are the best fit for the major they applied for. She said they really focus on the essays and resumes a lot more now rather just letting you in if your GPA is high and denying you if its low which is why you’ve seen people with 3.8’s denied and people with 3.4’s accepted. She said that the UT President became aware that people were applying for the “easier” majors knowing they’d be able to do internal transfers once they were accepted… so they have severely cracked down on that. Long story short she said that they now have to analyze every part of our applications and then determine who’s the best fit…which makes the decisions much harder…which is why its taking much longer. Sorry for the long post but I hopes this helps!!!

Hey guys so I have been following this feed for a while and last night my status changed.

I was accepted to CNS chemistry with a 3.39 gpa (first time applying)
Yes I know my gpa is low but I have over 100 hours and the past two years I have made all A’s in upper division chemistry courses. I had 5 letters on recommendations, a good resume, and very personal and in my opinion risky essays. I think the post above is accurate when they say they are looking at everything and taking a lot into consideration… I just wanted to give some hope to people that don’t have the highest gpa and let them know it’s possible!

As far as everyone that is still waiting to here back… Good luck and I hope everyone gets the decision that we all have been anticipating. Hook’em!
