@abray79 Can I ask, why are you transferring? You’re within a year (~20 hours) of graduating, you’ve already taken upper-division courses in your major for two years, and UT will require you to earn at least 60 hours in residence (meaning you’ll have 160 hours for a 120 hour degree). This is the kind of thing that drives legislators nuts.

I was accepted on Wednesday to my second choice physics.
gpa- 3.53
Calc1 complete
1 letter of recommendation
Pretty good essays
32 hrs- Sam Houston St. and ACC

@PastePotPete I’m transferring because I plan on going to grad school at UT after I graduate… And sorry for the confusion my post was supposed to say “for the past two years I have made all A’s including some in upper division chemistry courses.” I have been at UTSA for a semester where I have taken 3 upper division courses and finished up some of the required physics. As well I changed my major a few years back from biology to chemistry… So even though I have enough hours for a bachelors degree they do not all go towards one major. Which is why I will be completing at least 60 hours at UT… And then the credits already earned are for a biology minor… Hope this answered your question.

Still waiting for a response. Hoping to hear from my secondary choice more than my primary. Also, I was approved for 100% of the Post 9/11 for 36 months. Hoping to hear good news from UT.

I was denied yesterday from UGS and was planning to transfer into cockrell school of engineering if accepted.
3.24 gpa, around 60 hours, 4 letters of rec, two strong essays and some extracurricular… Good luck to everyone else!

Made a list of stuff all the accepted students need to do before we get on campus:

Update emergency contact and medical information form
Upgrade UT EID at the campus with some form of ID
Designate a bank for some EFT or direct deposits
Report your plan of enrollment to OSFS?
Explore the Interactive Degree Audit Planner
Look at transfer student resources page
Submit immunization documentation
Look up, plan for and register for the spring orientation
…pay tuition and fees? When exactly do we have to do that by, and… how? My term bill and my financial aid hasn’t shown up anywhere yet.
Look at petitioning course credit or placement
Send test scores and transcripts
Do we have to formally accept admissions?
…figure out housing in a month, sigh – no, probably shorter, since some of us are just waiting on housing contracts and will be waiting for a while

Anyone have anything else to add?

Also, does anyone know if, once you’re admitted to the university, what this “Change Major” option is? Like, if I request admission to a different major within the same college (CNS) I was admitted to, and they reject my major change request, I’m still admitted to the first major right?

I had a link on my status page to upgrade my UTEID. It just took a couple of entries and clicks.

Then I was able to get my UT e-mail set up at this link.
Welcome to UTmail | UT Austin;

Also, I got my UT picture ID at the Flawn Center. It only took about 5-10 minutes. The cost is $10 billed to your “What I Owe” UT account. There will be a long line if you wait until orientation to get your picture ID.

You also need to register for transfer orientation, which is Jan 12. Go to this page, and click on “Transfer Student” and “Fall Transfer.” Then click on “Spring Orientation FAQs.” There is a link at the bottom to register for Spring Orientation."

We can register once we have met with an advisor at orientation. After we register, we will have to make arrangements to pay tuition online. This is when we officially verify our attendance. For some reason, Spring transfers do not have to pay a deposit. UT tuition is a flat rate, somewhere around $5,000 a semester.

In addition to official college transcripts for Fall 2014 grades, we have to submit official high school transcripts. I did this through Parchment. http://www.parchment.com/

I was able to sublet an apartment at 2400 Nueces in West Campus. One of my friends signed a lease in the Far West area, which has UT shuttles every 15 minutes or so.

If a parent is a Texas military veteran and you are under 25, you should check out the Hazlewood program. We get 150 credit hours of tuition waivers. (That’s why my parents agreed to 2400 Nueces!).

Other items are parking and passes for UT sports, for those who are interested.

Hope this helps. Hook’em!

For people that are accepted. Did you receive an invite from the Humanities Honors Program? I am not sure if this is something for all transfers to take lightly, or to actually take some time to find out what it is?

How many of us poor souls awaiting decisions are left?
Idk what to stress about, my finals, or this decision…

I’ve heard of 2 people getting accepted to CS and another 300+ applications for a handful of spots if that helps

Made a (really obvious) mistake on my post above. For orientation page, click on Transfer Student and Spring Transfer. Sorry.

Also, I did get a letter from Humanities program. But I thought it was just an invitation to attend their session at orientation.

Hi guys, what exactly should a recommendation letter for a transfer to UT include? (Calc professor asked)

I think it needs to be about why you would be a good fit for the school, that is what my teachers and recommenders wrote about,

Welp @Kooplar246, it’s Friday night, guess we’ve got to wait til next week
On top of the stress of waiting, my work is putting pressure on me to let them know my spring availability. Can’t believe even if we’re accepted we can’t register til Jan 12!

Do you have to pay tuition with a bank account?

I got offered a supplemental housing contract for the time being – should I accept it?

@jkim3265 Did it actually say “supplemental housing” for your contract, or just housing contract? I got offered one too, but mine just says housing contract, so I was just curious.

Either way, I think it’s better to just accept it if you don’t already have an idea of where you’re gonna live. I wasn’t too picky on my housing preferences, and I already accepted my contract.

@rogerybarra Yea, it said supplemental housing.
Just wondering, when did you submit your housing application? I did mine on the 14th, a bit late, so that would explain why I got the short end of the stick.

I am so stressed about the living situation… :(

@jkim3265 Ah, that makes sense then. I actually did mine on the 3rd or 4th day it was open, so I think that might be why. Did they at least give you a cost for the supplemental housing?
