Spring 2015 Transfer Thread

@saammmaay‌ Sorry for the unclear posting…

Hey guys I was accepted to my first choice school, CNS- Biology on December 3, 2014! (Second time I’ve posted this.)

Current college is University of Texas at Tyler (I did not do the CAP program)

56 hours. Current GPA is a 3.46, expected GPA after fall is a 3.54

English 1-2, World lit, Bio 1-2, Chem 1, Precal, Statistics, Gov 1-2, Hist 1-2, Intro Psyc, Intro Philosophy, Art elective, and two engineering classes.

College applied for is CNS

1st choice major is Biology, 2nd choice major is undergraduate studies

In my opinion, my essays were pretty good.

I had one recommendation letter. (From a former UT undergraduate and law school graduate)

I was a United States Ambassador for two years.

I asked for a major change I am now accepted to COLA- Government.

Good luck to all I hope this helps!

@UTPatriot17 what were the grades you got specifically in your science/math courses? If you don’t mind sharing of course!

(Bio 1- B, Bio 1 Lab - B… Two Hard A teachers)

Bio 2- A

Bio 2 Lab- A

Chem 1- In Progress, but as of right now my grade looks like a B

Chem 1 Lab- B or C it’s still in progress though.

Precal- In progress… But most likely an A… I’ve taken Precal before my first semester of college and didn’t pay attention and made a D.

@Kooplar246‌

I just speak with CNS Admission and she recommended me to have AT LEAST 9 credits hours for Math amd Science

@Yoohooos‌ Is that individually or all together?

bump^

do you think if i have a good chance getting my appeal into CNS biology approved if i appeal with

calc 1 and 2 : As in both (calc 2 is in progress)
Bio 1 and 2: As in both
Bio 1 lab: A
Bio 2 lab A- (in progress)
Physics 1: A (in progress)
Chem 1: A or A- (in progress)

my gpa is a 3.795 (sumthin rlly close to a 3.8) but i was rejected from CNS Bio. Im just rlly confused why I was rejected. I applied with

Calc 1, bio 1 &2, bio 1 lab. Maybe they wanted more math and science so if i submit an appeal with my “in progress” classes after finals are over and I get all my final grades, do you think I have a shot guys?

I am just rlly confused how I got rejected if i had calc 1 bio 1 and bio 2 and bio 1 lab with As in all of them.

my essays and extracurriculars are pretty decent. I dont know if they are astounding but they are not really bad. I seriously question the admissions process.

@Kyotoraz‌ @saammmaay‌ all together. You’ll have more chance of getting in if you have 9+ hours

@saammmaay OMGGGG your grades are really good for my opinion, and I think you will get in if you can keep those A on your final report and appeal. IDK what would happen to me since you got reject with those stats (I applied for Summer 2015). But I think you’ll get in with your new stat

I have a question about the Cal 2. Is that multiple calculus or not?

@Yoohooos hopefully! DX Ill post my results as soon as my appeal gets a decision. This is CLEARLY ridiculous.

@kevin1201 what do you mean by multiple calculus? im not too sure what that means.

@kevin1201‌ No, Calculus II is single variable integrals only. Calculus III is multivariable.

Has anyone here been accepted or rejected into CS yet? I’m really not sure what’s taking so long. I have about 80+ hours, a 4.0 GPA, I’ve taken pretty much every class on the transfer curriculum and gotten an A, decent essays, 2 LoRs, and even my own CS projects which I linked to on my resume.

multivariable okay! Thanks!

@ivanryuu‌ OMGGGG I think you’ll probably get in for CS or even Cockrell. Look at you stat and I don’t think I’ll get in since it’s so many competitive applicant.

@saammmaay‌ Thanks a lot, Biology Major?

@ivanryuu‌ I am applying for CS as well, didnt hear back yet. I have:
3.9/4.0
80+ hrs
Good essays
A’s in majority of CS classes
4 LOR’s (all good) - one LOR is from a UT electrical engineering alumn
Software Engineering intern at Hewlett Packard last summer
Worked at Intel summer before that
Teaching assistant for Computer Science for a school year at my current school
Programmer on my First tech challenge robotics team in high school
Decent # of coding projects on my github

@arkarind wow very impressive! I haven’t had any internships yet but I was teaching Java EE for a semester so that should count for something I hope, and as you, I was also the programmer + many other jobs in my hs robotics.

It does make me feel somewhat better to know that more people are on the same boat as I am.

Now I’m thinking about changing my major, lollll.

So does anyone know when we should really expect to hear something? I’m going to live off campus and the housing I chose needs to know asap. I’m getting really worried.
